Hi everybody!
I have a question - I have read the ofrum topics and information on internet, but I still have one question - If I use necronomicon (simon necronomicon), what can i expect? I am very weary of karma, so I wouldn't want to kill my family or thing like that (IMG:style_emoticons/default/black eye.gif)

So - there also are good spirits? Actually, can someone describe necronomicon and possibilities from it "in two words"?

thx (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

I think you mean 'wary' - sorry, I'm a spelling/grammar nazi.

No one can tell you what to expect, different for everyone. The necronomicon is not more special or unique than any other tradition. Use protections, keep your feet on the ground, observe objectively, stop if you feel you are supposed to stop.

But what about those "infamous" things and frequent warnings about being cursed just by owning the book? Didn't find it with franz burdons initiation to hermetics (IMG:style_emoticons/default/hmm.gif)

There's a lot of hype around the necronomicon system, from the book, to the author, etc. Every civilization has taken their gods/demons very seriously, and say pretty much the same things about dealing with them. All powerful, curses, destruction for incompetence or weak faith, deals with devils that go horribly wrong, etc.

Take any tradition seriously - but also keep your feet on the ground and stay objective at the same time. All sorts of things may or may not happen when dealing with the necronomicon current; it didn't agree with me, but for others its actually a very warm tradition. Inanna is a goddess of love, markduk is the courage and personal power in us all, Nanna is the quiet hidden wisdom deep inside.

Angels and Demons, Good and Evil, just like any other tradition. The sumerians were hung up on natural disasters, disease, etc., but in the end their tradition is no more cursed than the egyptian system, or the vedic system, or shintoism, etc.

I am aware that some chaotes --and perhaps others--like to use the Necromonicon as a grimoire, but Simon's Necromonicom is meant to be a parody or fictional extention of Lovecraftian material not a "real" grimoire. And Lovecraft was not into occultism; he was merely a sci-fi writer with a dark imagination. So whatever you make of it--whatever rules or cautions you apply to the Necromonicon (a fictional cult classic of sorts) and whatever your intellectual, emotional or magical projections are in relation to the text are your own projections. You make the rules and you make the magic. Don't drive yourself crazy with sincerity about it.

--------------------
Leaving aside those principles of magic that play on the superstitious and that, whatever they be, are unworthy of the general public, we will direct our thoughts only to those things that contribute to wisdom and that can satisfy better minds . . . -from De Magia by Giordano Bruno (born 1548; burned at the stake February 16, 1600).

What to expect?

Oh, you know...Cthulu, Pazuzu, various other primordial deities from the Babylonian system that generally make the monsters you saw on Buffy look like kindergarten teachers.

Fairly standard sort of stuff, really. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

Well, when I worked with the Necro. (more experimenting ) I invoked Ishtar, it was the worst experience ever. I dont think that spirit likes females. So Inanna, maybe I got her name wrong, thats why.

In my own opinion ,expect nothing.I mean the whole necronomicon is a piece of fiction, used as a litterary device,of course you can check babylonian traditions for the real thing,
but still, the babylonian were highly intrested in demons.which i dont reccomend if you are worried about killing your family
for good spirits i suggest working with the ars almdel or enochian magick....but that's just me...!

I think you get what you exptect. If you're expecting a monster to come try to kill you, I think that's what you'll get. So if you're expecting it to kill your family, maybe you should try something else.

I have thought this over again, the necronomicon although fictional, may work as the Gods mentioned are real and they resemble a good part of pagan human history.
what to excpect....?
I dont know..

One can no more call the Necronomicon Fictional, than any other grimoire, holy text, or ancient tract. The fact of the matter is, in two thousand years people will debate the origins of the book itself. (well, if the current tech advances/etc., they likely won't, but the point is the same). Someone wrote a book at some point, copied it from somewhere else, copied that from somewhere else, and there is no inspiration that is not divine; so divinely inspired is redundant regarding any 'holy' or 'mystical' book.

The necronomicon follows the essential laws of magic that will bring any ritual to life, the names and personae in the book are deeply rooted in human history and civilization. Just because it was recently written, if it was, does not make it a work of fiction.

And it is as yet not empirically proven that Lovecraft came up with it all on his own.

Everything is fiction. Including you and I.

peace

I can't speak for every entity within the Necronimicon but working with Ereshkigal has been a very positive experience for me.
If I were you I would just make sure you have proper defenses in place and give it a try... Ganzir is nice this time of year lol (IMG:style_emoticons/default/zomby.gif)

I would recommend the 50 names of Marduk. Though you use caution when dealing with any diety you invoke the 50 are most helpful.

I first used the Necronomicon a few years ago to catalyze my first magickal operation. I was pretty desperate for it to work, so all the energy was there. And in my case, it worked amazingly. Later I learned that the Necronomicon was a work of "fiction," so I felt foolish and put the book aside. I've only recently realized why it doesn't matter that the Necronomicon is probably fictional.

I ditto Ozmagog's recommendation to use some defenses as you use Necronomicon; e.g. learn some effective banishing rituals before, delineate a circle, et cetera. In any case, it's important to control the safety of the space in your magickal reality. I wish I'd known to do this at the time, it might have gotten rid of some of the negative events surrounding the outcome of the operation (or not! the skeptic says: maybe the negative events were going to happen, regardless of Necronomicon. Or perhaps they were just the natural consequences of getting what I wanted.)

That said, don't be afraid! I think the consensus here says you can use Necronomicon safely, just like Goetia, as long as you're smart about it.

We are just an advanced breed of monkeys on a minor planet of a very average star. But we can understand the Universe. That makes us something very special."

While the book is fictional, magic is not. Your intent will link to somewhere and you may not like where that somewhere is or what lives there.
