Praise be to the Unconquered Sun
Whose brilliant light adorning Heaven
Burns away the root of delusive passions

Happy Summer Solstice, everyone. I am both celebrating the Sun at his highest point in the Northern Hemisphere's sky, and also mourning that from this point on, the days will grow shorter.

Domineo veniteo sacramentum eodeo
Omnem crede diem tibi diluxesse supremum

From the Oaken groves and the Standing Stones,
To the Papyrus fronds and the Inscrutable Sphinx...

The hot radiant star rides high and fires
at its highest point before it retires;
Tomorrow will see its reign abridging,
Long bright days darkening and dwindling,
Our loss is the southern hemispheres gain,
as northern echoes of summer remain;
Its majestic course with now long-spread rays,
marks the return to hibernator ways.

And the heavenly bodies turn once more, the light is at its strongest today, yet after this it will slowly fade away.
Summer is still to come, but the lights work is already done.
