I have a huge question. While "dragon" calling (summoning) what are you summoning exactly?.. An actuall dragon / an astrial being or just energy?

northern heavens ,and curves in a pattern between the big dipper and Little dipper.It ends in a Dragons head,a trapezium of four stars.

So lets dabble a bit in the magick and see if we can help

Dragon Magick

Dragons are wonderful supernatural beings. If you are patient ,
you can entice a dragon to be a friend . The easiest to meet
are the guardian dragons, they are considered the "baby" of the species.
They are almost always supervise by one or more adult dragons,

They like ginger ,spicy incense sweet scents attract them . They like to
hang over your shoulder they are very in touch with you

reading a book,you might notice ones
presence over your shoulder. If you have trouble visualizing your dragon,
and you can fell them try putting a crystal to your third eye on your forehead.

You can burn a candle, any colour except black as well as a spicy or sweet incense. Set out a few crystals to draw their attention and then say the following chant

This is a good question and in my own dragon experience, you will only get to know if your dragon is real or just a passing formation of something else after spending time with it. Magick is like that, it is often on reflection and after some experience that you find out what is what.

So many people want to summon dragons, but a reliable and loyal dragon is a gift, so I don't recommend it myself, though I do frequently tell people to be very open to the possibility of one being around waiting for you.

In my own estimate, bearing in mind that most sensible practitioners keep that kind of information to themselves (unlike me lol) I would say that about 10 - 25% of serious mages have had or do have contact with dragons, but that is a mere guess, they are not an automatic right.

Not wanting to put a damper on anything here, but most and I mean nearly all of the stuff I have ever seen on dragons on the internet seems to me to be inaccurate. But there is much I don't know...

The wish to receive a dragon companion is usually enough to attract them. it's best to learn what a dragon is and what it likes, from the dragon itself. Complex rituals are not necessary. My companion has been with me since I was six. He was not impressed by Conway's book, although apparently it was written in the right spirit, so I figure she prolly wrote the book with a combination of theory and experience. She'd have been much older by the time she published it if she waited around to confirm everything she thought.
"It's one thing to read a book about a foreign culture, they are thousands of miles away and hard to get to. We are proverbially the people next door, and there's no excuse for taking anyone's word on us but ours. No one knows everything about our culture, but everyone who wants to knows what's important for them."

Dragons are like people, and that makes them sorta unique amongst spirits. My companion alludes to culture occasionally, and even the angels I have communed with (albeit few) seem to have a more beehive or anthill mentality of heirarchy rather than a culture proper. Must be due to the difference in their purposes. Anyway, we agree that unless one specifically calls for a 'greater' dragon, what you will encounter will be a 'lesser' dragon. They age, but time on that side isn't lined up perfectly with this side, so don't be surprised if your companion has a few secrets. Apparently that's all I can say about that.

I have two companions, one a dragon, the other a panther spirit. I work mostly with animal spirits, the rest are from one grimoire or another. Grimoire spirits always seem mechanical, Animal spirits always seem patronizing. Dragons are the only thoughtforms I have worked with who genuinely seem like caring teachers, always patient, always polite, and quick to let me know when I'm letting faulty human reasoning get the best of me. I realize this is a VERY old topic, but I thought it was interestng. So, as always, I had to reply.

Personally, I don't think that it requires a huge long ritual. As long as it's sincere and your intention is pure, the Dragon you call upon should make his presence known. And if you do feel that a ritual is nessecary, try making your own. I've found rituals I've created myself have much more power and are usually more respected.
