I've put this in the LHP section because I figure since the RHP is all about egolessness and that type of thing, the ego-boosting discussion belongs in the LHP forum.
I know quite a few RHP people that would strongly disagree about it, although this is just an opinion and I'm not sure whether I do agree with it or not, but just for the argument's sake, I'll expand this point of view.
Having a strong ego may be a very different thing from being egocentric. The one implies that there is accumulation of a force, and the other one implies that this force is focused solely on oneself.
If one has an extremely strong ego and focuses it towards the good of humanity and of this person being just and truthful towards others, then this could be an extremely good source of motivation. If one is completely egoless, this individual may lack of persistence or motivation for anything. This doesn't mean that such individual may take anything personal, this is a completely different story regarding the personality.
And remember, the vice of Tipharet is egocentrism, but the Ego force exists there, it just needs to be correctly handled.
