Lbrp Alternatives., Rituals to replace or replicate the LBRP Options

Hi all,

My backround and first experiences in magick were of the ceremonial type via, Donald Craig. Since then I've begun exploring other paths. One thing I'm unsure about is the effectiveness of LBRP alternatives. One path that I really connect with is the nocturnal realm, i.e.. Konstantinos. Now I'm not a Pagan or Wiccan, but I like his viewpoints on the darker aspects of the art.
My question is about his 'dark circle'. Has anyone tried it? I've done some 'dark' Nyx based rituals, but only with the LBRP and LBRH. I'm concerned though that these particular measures might interfer with the nocturnal powers, as they seem to be very different in their basic natures from what is usually dealt with. Any advice or experiences would be much appreciated.

I've read a few of Konstantinos's books. I like them enough. He ocassionally leaves some stuff out, but hey, where would the fun be if all the info was boiled down into one tome? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

The LBRP is very powerful, I speak from personal use and practice. I, too, started off with a very formal version (actually from Summoning Spirits, heh). Over time it evolved into a personalized ritual. Not too different from the original but enough so that it "fit" me better. You might just want to stick with it for a few months and see what happens.

As for a dark circle and the LBRP/LBRH, I don't see why you wouldn't be able to adapt them to go together. Especially if Nyx has/has given you a sympol of power to call her. You can pop that in where the pentagram goes, replace elements with the positions of the sun, or lack there of (IE: East, where darkness dies, SOUTH Where shadows are burnt and banshed, WEST, Where darkness rises once more--reborn, NORTH--where Shadows rule and darkness blankets the world). I dont know if the above example is correct for where you live (or where I live for that matter....does the sun travel south? I always thought it did based on the E to W, but I guess it could be North....plus Terran Hemispheres also matter).

Personally I have my own opening rituals that I have painstakingly developed over a few years. They work best for me, though I did try a number of things first (LBRP, Aurum Solis stuff (Spelling?), wicca circles and rituals, dark pagan rites). In the end I found I have darker leanings, but it goes along with my strange view of the cosmos!

Anyway, hope you can eek out something there!

Wow! Thanks Jabberwock. Since I posted I've cautiously experimented with a few things, especially the Nyx connection. I find i've got a very strong connection with her. But I must say I, it never occured to me to use your concept of 'nocturnal directions'. That's sounds very promising.
And as far as Konstantinos goes, I'd have to agree w/u on him being incomplete. However, I never felt as though he was unknowing. It always felt to me that he was leaving things out to protect those 'goth kids' who're trying to summon Adonai Luciere in their basement. No offense to Goths, but you know what I mean. A while back I encountered this small group of Goths who thought it would be FUN to INvoke a powerful demonic power, with no protective measures at that. My brother and I debated whether or not to warn them, but after seeing their gung-ho-know it all attitudes, we decided to let them live and learn.
So my next question is, 'Why do members of the young gothic community always seem to overlook the wisdom of their elders in favor of blind experiece?' Sure, that approach has some merit, but they always either give up after there are no results, or quit when something 'scary' happens. It's like the whole 'Ouija Board' experience. Never enough knowledge with too much desire. That's why I always ask questions of those I feel know more than myself. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blablabla.gif)
