Hi Barnard,
There is a path I’ve used, based around an idea quite close to this.. I'll share it with you; although its results are not as physically open to a definite answer (you won’t be able to pinpoint a specific city name or location on a map in the common sense of how a ‘spell’ would direct you). I’ve worked with personally developed craft magicks for quite a while; possibly close to what some know and work with, and possibly differentiated as well.. I’m unsure how you would label the things I do, and I wouldn’t like to; for I find that when you put a label on something, it becomes extremely limited to a set of ideas.
We can call this a ‘One Craft Magick’ approach, if that would help. Take into thought, the idea that a photograph holds the essence of a person at one time in life; it can be based on an exact time, place, spirit and physical appearance, and there is then the idea of the person taking the photograph. A still frame in time can be captured in this way if you understand the idea of what a photograph can do. You must first take the photo in its purest form; take the idea of skin tone, emotion, the sense the air felt at the time the photo was taken.. try to locate a photo which captures all that you can of what that person is, in a specific time you (or someone you can speak to) can recall. This will take the photograph and make it more personal towards your ideology.
Take a crystal bowl, (it doesn’t have to be real crystal of course), one with etched sidings, without a smooth surface to the outside anyway. Boil a kettle of the purest water source you can find. Place the photo in the bottom of the bowl; pour water into the bowl (high enough to cover the photo, x 3 high). Place two black candles on either sides of the bowl and light them (have the candles cut or low enough that the actual flame will shine through either side of the bowl).
Gather the Herb Euphrasia in a dried form (or dry it yourself, use the leaf, stem and flower) and crush it, gather a few tbsp’s of this herb, dried and crushed into a powder form.
Sit in front of the bowl and look straight down towards the photo; stare into the photo until the candle light forms a picture of the photograph in your mind (the way you would perceive a Sun spot if you looked at the Sun for too long). Close your eyes and allow the image to sink into your mind.
Open your eyes and keep the image in your mind; sprinkle the crushed Euphrasia into the bowl (there should still be some steam coming out of the bowl). And allow the steam to move the herb around as you peer through it at the photo. Allow the Euphrasia to settle on the surface (after all of it has been added); an outline of a surface area will form (a coordinate outline based on the geographical outline as viewed on a map). This surface view may possibly be difficult to identify; but it is a path I’ve used with quite positive results. The hardest part will be identifying which areas of the map have connected properly and which most closely resemble an actual area you know of on a geographical map.
Furthering on this; mix the water with the Euphrasia within it (stir it); more than likely some of the photograph will be removed with the heat of the boiling water. Pour this mixture into a glass (it doesn’t have to be all of it of course), and place it by your bed as you sleep. Keep a cool water source close to your bed, and drink half of it before sleep; once you wake, pour the remaining half in with the Euphrasia mixture, keep this in your room as the days pass and if you know much of dream control, you can use this to control your dreams and awaken an actual location in your dreams of where this person is.
I hope this helps, take care,
Bluethorne

Is there a spell to locate someone by using a picture?
I've been doing research on the net, and came up with this one so far:
BASIC LOCATION SPELL
This is a basic spell to locate anyone no matter where they're at.
You will need:
* 4 blue candles
* a goblet filled 3/4 of the way with water
* jasmine incense
* a quiet, undisturbed place
Put the 4 candles around you- one north, one south, one east, one west. Light the candles and the incense. Sit in the center of the candles, facing west. Put the goblet in front of you. Invoke the element of water. Repeat 4 times: "Let the water show the location of (person's name)."
I'm currently not in a place where I can be practicing magick, so I'll be trying things out in a month or 2 when I move back to NC. Has anyone tested this method out? If you know of any other variations of the spell, feel free to share if you please. As I keep researching other websites, I see the same instructions with minor varying of wording. It might just be legit.
