Sceptre/wand Midsummer Eave, Id like to know how should i cut it at midsummer eave Options

Hello!

So I live in Latvia and each year at June 23/24 we celebrate midsummer eave. I am thinking of going to local ancient palace place (no palace, only veery old oaks and a hill) to cut myself sceptre. What is the right way to do this or where can I find more info on this? Ive had my mind on this place for years but this year I am thinking of actually going there and doing it (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) I understand I must ask permission and thank all the ancients guarding the place, but I am pretty sure there are more things to it that i don't know about.

That about it really. Ask permission first, be graceful if the answer is 'no', don't harm the tree more then needed, be nice and leave an offering after you are done. Think about what direction the limb show point, if curved or straight is more helpful to you, and what the best time might be for cutting. It is rather straight forward.
