I'm curious to know what the people here think of when in terms of "alternate worlds." As an example of what I mean, in a number of books and shows, the main character is summoned by one way or another into a completely new realm. One that tends to be heavily based on fantasy and magic. A simple example would be "The never-ending story."

Do you guys think completely alternate realms like these exists? Places where magic is closer to a basis of life than just a taboo hobby.. Personally, I think it would be really cool to have such places, but I highly doubt anything of the sort really does exists. (Of course there is no real way of answering both until someone here whips up a teleportation spell of some sort! Ha.)

I belive everything exist, and especial everything ever created on the Astral plane, that include fantasy, horror and sience fiction worlds and charecters. And I belive theese things get a reality outside the reality we know, that thye somplace is as real as you and I and the world we see around us. I also belive that there are multiple versions of theese worlds. One Lord of the Rings world exisit whit the way I did see the sory in my minds eye, one exist for the way you did see the book, for example. Eatch and every story or fantasy world ever written exist out there, somwere, but how to get there, now that is another question alltogether.

Perhaps while on a level of the astral plane, send out a message saying your open to any and all summonings? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) I still think it would be really cool to physically transport to a completely new realm. Albiet a very dangerous and thick headed idea...

EDIT: Re-thinking this, maybe one would be best be off asking a god or goddess for this as a favour in return for something?

It was Friday night in hell and Satan was bored, playing chess whit Baal simply did not banish his boredom this evening, most likely becouse the Demon was to afride to make his boss angry he made no real effeort to win. Perhaps, thinks Satan, he should just go to bed early, take a relaxing bubble bath, read a bit in his book and get a fresh start tomorrow. He was just aboute to get up from his throne of bones and say goodn night to Baal when a little Imp come running into his throne room, panting. "Master, Master!" The Imp wheesed between labord breath. "Masters there is a Sorcerer broadcasting all over the Astral pale, he says he is open to any and all summonings." Satan fully heaved his scaly bulk from this thone, he smiled a delighted smile, it seamed life was ineed good for the wiced, here he had been all bored and depressed and then a prfect opertunity for entertainment presented itself, just like that. This was better than cable TV. Satan walks over to the little Imp and pet the underling on its horny little head. "Ah how delightful, how delightfull indeed. Well summon this Sorcerer then, summon him my little friend, and let tonight`s entertainment begin.

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/evilB.gif)

It might not be wise to call out that one acept whatever and whoever calls. But I agree, it would have been neat to be wisked away to a Fantasy world, taken away from this drab reality and been able to see somthing truly magickal in a world of one`s dreams. I wish for that every day. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) And I have a few choice worlds I would like to visit to, now all I need is the doorway.

Maybe, but here's the kicker--if we DID live in a world like that, we'd be so inured to it that it would seem as drab and boring as day-to-day reality does to us now. The psyche can get used to anything. The trick is to shock it out of complacency from time to time to keep it active and awake.

i've been doing quite a lot of research on this very topic

space time is like a rope made up of individual strands

it is possible to move from one adjacent strand to another

or to create a whole new strand

for example:

is a video game real? (is it a reality?) - it exists, just in non-physical cyberspace, not the physical - if the author poured themselves into the making of the game, and you as a player fully participated in it and made it your reality at the risk of being called 'delusional' and institutionalized, then yes it can be real

what if you built a perfect physical version of the video game - would that be any more real?

reality is plastic, and can be molded

so creating a side-world of your own is simple - just completely believe it exists

to move to another strand - same thing - describe it as much as possible and completelely believe it exists

then look for a door through to your belief by simply including it in your definition of the place you want to go

But this would mean that all the fanfiction that people write would exist in seperate worlds of their own, and therès some really awful fic out there.
Are you suggesting that there might be ways to travel into a story and experience it in person.

I'm not sure if 'fantasy' worlds exist as in those created within fictional books but I do know that the Native Americans used to believe in three worlds. The one we have now, the afterlife and the in-between. They used to put on masks so the spirits could take over and they could act within the in-between world.

That's what I read. I hope it's right.

Everything ive ever read and studied has in one way or another pointed towards the fact that we exist in more than just this world already. In dreams when you begin to see places that really exist like golden dawn monestaries and secret society domains all over you begin to see that the other worlds are only a breath away. I truly believe that true magic exists but has been so "negated" by disbelief and religious intolerance that its not as powerful as it could be or once was. Closed minds get us no where and there are still very few of "us" but the number is growing and religious intolerance is begging to be shown for the false nonsense that it truly is. I also believe that in the end times (whenever that may really be) the world will look more like something from a sci fi book. Awakenings of beings that have been dormant for thousands of years. The awakening of the fallen angels that still reside here, On and on.

Nice video that might interest the one who wants to have knowledge concerning other worlds:http://www.tenthdimension.com/medialinks.php

The true magick is in All. At all time. Like allready stated above. It just needs some shaking and waking. We are so brainwashed by all dogmas rules etc. so that we simply have forgotten how good it all tastes (and especially what the ingredients are (not to mention how to mix it up and prepare it)). Someone said once: "this world is a beautiful gift wrapped in wrappingpaper. But we stay stuck in the wrappers and think the smell and shape of the package is all there is. But inside there are nice cookies and sweets to be eaten." I think it is a very sweet description (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Just slow down and relax and feel. See the magick in the moment. There's the access. Another short story: "God was beginning to get troubled by all the questions that Man asked him and all the favors. So he asked a saint for a hiding-place from humankind. The saint said: 'Go into the hearts of the humans. They will look everywhere else, but not there.'. So God did that and has had a nice leisure"

If you enjoy that sort of thing I'd suggest astral projection. Or mental projection. The latter being much more confusing in my opinion.

I am really partial to the grass is greener on the other side theory. That said there are ways to access these places for the most part. It is called air travel and a car. The only thing missing in many parts of the world are the flashy impressive looking spells, but the rest of it is pretty much there. Central and South America, away from the cities can get pretty interesting.

On the flip side, I guess I want to truly understand what you are asking?

If it is a world of adventure? Get out and enjoy life to the fullest, stay out of your comfort box, always risk failure…your life will be a lot more interesting and rewarding very fast.

In some cases, it would be impossible to tell if you'd went to an alternate world. For example, if everything was different; your memories, body, mind... everything would have changed. What would you have to reference that shift?

It's most likely be a person can physically travel in more directions than the usual 3. There's records of people mysteriously disappearing throughout time and across the globe. Ex:
http://paranormal.about.com/cs/humanenigmas/a/aa060903.htm
http://paranormal.about.com/library/weekly/aa061101a.htm
And John Titor's collected quotes mention "World Lines" and infinite alternative universes.

I think that is nonsense. What happens when you read a book - "Griffen and Sabine " for example? Do you just sit there reading dead words or go with the lovers? Guess what happens?

Once you get there you can't get back home.
