 Idea Of Chaos, Its there whether you like or not

Whats the first thought and image that comes to mind when you think of the word chaos?

Interesting question! I have thought about that before, and I am currently working on an artistic interpretation of primordial chaos ( thought of using the goddess Tiamat). Anyway, whenever I think of chaos there are always a lot of colours and abstract shapes. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/922.gif)

chaos is the absence of form, to describe it you need to start defining limits and then it's no longer chaos: it's creation. which is a bit of a paradox (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Rick, I like that you're working on an artistic interpretation, I personally think that you will have better success defining it that way than trying to sum it up in words. Maybe by trying to freeze/capture the moment when chaotic action is given expression?

A couple of artists who spring to my mind in connection with art and chaos are Jackson Pollock and WIlliam Burroughs.

Burroughs would make shotgun paintings by -um- firing a shotgun at a wooden board.

Pollock of course experimented with random drips of paint on canvas. He denied that there was such a thing as accident.
