Humboldt county is probably better-known for pot growing, and they seem to make comparatively good money from it. Late August always had bigger buyers in the jewelry store as the crops were being sold. In Del Norte county, it seemed like everyone smoked and nobody made money from it. By "everyone" I mean ... everyone: the teachers, the politicians, the shop owners, everyone. As I said before the biggest problems occurred when you needed to get cash from someone and they wanted to trade pot for goods and services. The tax people will take gold nuggets, the water dept will take fish or chickens, the auto mechanics take pot, but the power company only wants cash. Those jerks!

I knew people who claimed "anxiety" was their illness. Specifically, anxiety over being arrested for growing dope! They got the cards after all.

On the other hand, I remember a blind Orthodox monk and a man with no legs who owned a TV, a bong, and a picture of Jesus. They would sit around with Sunday Church on TV, smoking dope and scratching Lotto tickets. I can't imagine anyone thinking that pot was somehow creating social disturbances through these people.

lmfao!! Just something about a blind Orthodox monk and a dude with no legs watching some Evangelical priest on tv while playing kino and smoking ganja makes me smile....
