Someone and I are planning to move in together soon (not too soon), and we both are occultists. I was wondering if we can both share the same altar or if each of us should have our own altar. We both practice the exact same things, but I think perhaps an altar would be a more personal thing.

What do you think? Sharing an altar is good or not?

I would personaly prefere to have my own alater, but if there is not room for two I would share. I think it is a personal thing, for some the alatr might even become more powerful when two magicians used it together. Here there is just plainly a question of what works for you.

Im planning on keeping an entire room only for ritual use, which the altar will be in. Him and I would not have too many rooms in one house, besides we're both exactly alike in terms of belief and ritualistic practices.

If you really have to share an altar, then at least have your own altar cloth, candles and tools. Ideally, maybe have two lightweight ones for separate use. I think that you can banish energies from a shared altar but of course, in your mind, you will know that its not entirely yours. So you need to think whether knowing that would affect your workings.

Oooh, I would love to have a ritual room just for that (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sun.gif)

I'd personally advise against it. If you're sharing a ritual room, I'm sure there are ways to do a work-around where you wouldn't have to share an altar.

Then again, if you two feel it'd work for you, then go for it. This is ultimately a very personal decision that only you can make.
