About two or three years ago, I had a dream. Or series of dreams really. In the dreams, I felt so free. So calm, and happy. Interpret if you want, but I just wanted to share these dreams with you all.
Night One In the first dream, it started with myself running through a village where all the buildings were made of wood. I was a boy, no older than 11 or 12. I had golden-brown skin and black hair. Rather skinny in frame, but with muscle tone. The entire village was on stilts, setting over a large body of water. In one direction was the endless ocean, and in the other was the land. On the land was a large palace where the king and queen lived with their servants and daughter.
I ran through the village, racing another boy my age to find an object. It was a challenge by the princess. We ran with cheetah-like speed and nearly inhuman agility. Diving through the village peoples' open windows we took shortcuts, knowing exactly where the object's destination was. I ran through the door and came to a pile of hay. The other boy came up right after me. We began to dig into the hay until I found it! It was the princess' royal hair comb. I walked over to the window, looked over at the boy who had lost, and gave him a sly grin. Without a second thought, I took the comb in hand, turned to the window, and threw the princess' comb outside. Might I add, we were at the entirely opposite side of the village. The comb flew across the entire village and landed in front of the palace gates. When it did, the boy and myself were at it again. The dream ended when I got to the palace, grabbed the comb, and handed it to the princess.
Night Two The next night, the dream continued. The same boy as before and myself were running through the village, just as quickly and savagely as before. Nimblely jumping from windows to wooden walkways to rooftops, all across the village. I remember one time jumping to one old woman's home which was higher than most, grabbing onto the window, and slinging myself across her house to the outside again. On the final walkway, we landed side by side and raced as fast as we could. In the dream, I had memories and feelings of knowing this boy for all my life. Almost like a brother, but had love for him more as a friend, not a family member. Just then, he tripped, and fell flat on his face as soon as he got to dry land. The princess stood alone in front of the palace gates, waiting for us. The rest of the dream I cannot remember.
Night Three The third and final night of this dream sequence. The boy from before and myself were standing in front of the princess. She stared down the both of us, smiling oh so happily. The last day of the challenges she was giving us had come. We bowed to her, and walked off. The dream skipped ahead to the challenge. We entered a small arena, armed with small leather shields and one handed swords. We were going to fight to the death. And while we had loved each other as if we were brothers, we were prepared to kill. The swordfight was magnificant, the both of us dodging and swinging, flipping and stabbing at one another. While the dream ended in the middle of the fight, when I awoke, I knew that I had killed him for the princess.
