Hello everyone!

I like the new and improved site. I guess I haven't been here in a while.

My question has to do with the LBRP. I'm still just focusing on that, but lately I've been feeling the urge to begin the Middle Pillar.

Anyway, I've recently realized that I prefer to perform the vibrations mentally, rather than audibly. I usually do the LBRP late at night, when my partner's daughter is asleep, which led me to mostly doing it all silently. But occasionally I get the chance to do it aloud, and I was surprised to find that I found it really distracting and less personal (i.e. I was way less connected to it). It might just be that I'm more used to doing it silently, and doing it the other way might simply upset my sense of familiarity and confidence with it.

Or it could be that it works better for me if I do the vibrations internally.

Whichever way, is it unadvisable to do it this way? Is it better to do the vibrations aloud so they resonate through my body physically?

I say:

If mentally vibrating is more effective for you than physically vibrating - then keep right on mentally vibrating.

My question for you is: which is more effective for you, based upon your experience?

I feel the other way around, if i don't get to be loud i don't feel the same, i dont know.. "rush" from it. It's like night and day for me.

If you feel more connected without actually being loud then that's probably "better" for you, however, just make sure that you aren't feeling like that (or thinking you are) because you feel the need to be quiet for your partners child. If so you are just lying to yourself (I'm not saying you are, just make sure)

I'm still at that place inbetween, trying to figure things out.

I find that physical vibrations can be very soothing and effective if done correctly (I'm still trying to get it 100% right, its mostly hit and miss) but mental vibrations are much more practical in ways (ie, they dont wake people up (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) ) and can be produced in the middle of a crowd.

I'll share a little secret method of mine, for audible vibration practice. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Step one involves being in the shower (yes, the shower)
Then try singing (yup, just plain old singing) but breathe deep, from your diaphragm (belly) not your chet. Just keep doing that (or just singing exercises) until you have a good handle on it.
Next, instead of singing vibrate a vowel (I've been contemplating on the acredness of vowels recently, so I use them, but you can use other letter, some vibrate much more easily than others and all of them create a different feeling), like A.

Take a deep breath (from your belly) and in one exhalation say "aaaaaaaaaaeeeee', or however you pronounce "A", any way works but they have differnt "flavors". Try to start at the lowest end of your vocal range, quietly and then as you run out of breath bring it up higher and loud (not too high though, dont want to strain your voice away to nothing).

My general experience with this is th shower is like Vegas--what happens in there, stays there. Besides, if any one asks, say you're singing. You can practice this any where but I find the simple repetitive motions of washing as well as the constant beat of the water helps to settle the mind.

You can repeat the intonation several times to build up feelings associated with it (I find doing 23 or so 'eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee's makes me feel better)

Anyway, hope this helps someone and I didn't just share this potentially embaressing secret for nothing. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

Out of SPACE- out of TIME.

IMHO, I find that to produce the vibrations physically is to produce a more well-rounded result. If one does only the mental intoning then the results tend to remain on the mental plane. 'Toning' also will show you where there may be blockages in your energy centers. Bardon and some others give good descriptions of practice with vibration. The 'Stirring of the Astral Light' is important and though possible with just your mental 'voice', you really need to become proficient with your physical voice. Again, IMHO, stop trying to circumvent the work needed! Get a small electronic keyboard or even a tuning fork(s) or pitch pipe to help getting you started...
I like the shower method offered above! LOL! When you actually physically 'vibrate/tone' the words etc. you cause your immediate surroundings to resonate to certain vibrations. If you've done this properly you will be able to notice the difference in the room/space afterwards. Besides, if you never produce the sounds, how do you know that you are producing them properly in the mental sphere?
Humming a vibrational tone will produce a marked feeling in some portion of your (mostly aquatic) body. If you are mute then you can use an outside source to facilitate the process.
The use of the 'embarrest' excuse doesn't fly. If you want to succeed and do it well you will fdind a way! DO IT! There are musical scales that correspond to various effects/results...just as there are olfactory triggers that do the same thing. When we combine the processes together toward a specific goal, the results will be all the more potent or precise!
Sing/Bellow away! Who cares...we surround ourselves with sound everyday...reduce the cacophony with some well directed vibrations! ...IMHO, of course! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

Hey, hey, hey let's not forget the medium of the two. Learning to produce the vibrations simply by whispering the words at the right tone is also very important, maybe the most important.
All in all I think it's important to learn each of the three effectively. Sure you'll find one to method to be your favored method but you're basically only developing one muscle of your body when you need to develop you whole body. In billiards there are many different types of strokes, certain position plays only become possible at certain situations through no more than one or two different strokes. This is very much the case of vibrations.

I work in our basement and it has exposed pipes along with a central heating unit. When the different metals "sing" with my vibrations, I know I have got it right.
