*Sigh* The sins of the fathers......... For enlightenment and entertainment,I present: HOW TO TELL A DRAGON FROM A CHAOS WYRM: Dragons appear much as the Chineese and Aztecs pictured them, elegant and slim, with or without wings, intelligent and thoughtful, and very curious.not overly hostile, the only creature they will go out of thier way to fight is a chaos wyrm or false dragon.false dragons look very much like our friends the dragons to those who don't know the diffrence or can't see well astrally, many inexperienced astral viewers only see them as a stream of shadow or colored light.Dragons are warm blooded, give birth to live young,[Bree]do not eat solid food, however do require water, even in thier astral state.thier main food is the negative astral energies which make us ill or imbalanced, and in return give off positive vibrations which are healthy for us,much as trees take in carbon dioxide and give off oxygen.Elves like them but I'm not sure of the exact relationship yet. Chaos Wyrm: These distant cousins of true dragons are the reason that real dragons moved out of our sight into the astral levels above our senseing. They are bloated, unpleasant to look at,carnivorous, violent, but keenly intelligent and often communicate with man.they are cold blooded, lay eggs, and are generally ill tempered, they like true dragons can feed on negative energies, but unlike true dragons, are not objected to makeing those energies, fear being the sweetest to them. They have caused so much trouble that mankind has tried to hunt down everything that even remotely looks like either species. The Chaos Wyrm is yet with mankind today and on rare occasion there are still sightings. Now......before someone gets all in a huff and wants me to cite my sources: A Dragon told me........ GeNoCyDe, Greetings! Ah, well....I have been rather patient and down right reserved about this issue....which has caused me to reflect upon my short comings and with the way I deal with people. As a Moderator there comes a certain amount of responsibility in seeing that the viewers and posters here are treated with respect and assistance. When it comes to our scaly friends I've heard an awful lot of talk...some for, some against, some good and some bad. What we perceive to be true and what others perceive to be true can sometimes be very different indeed! I can offer very little physical proof about the astral entity that I consider my ally and 'friend'. I expect that you can not do otherwise. The Forum heading that this is in is called Gods and Goddesses. Since your lack of source(s) remains a mystery other than heresay, I suggest that it being continued or opened as a new thread under Entities. I cannot, in good faith, point the crabby finger of ROLEPLAYING at this, despite the Forum Rules, as the evidence in much that is arcane can be technically labelled such...at least philosophically. Indulge me, as I'm losing patience, in this triviality, so as to circumvent the impending unpleasantry. Please let it be known that if, in fact, you can point my attention toward a classical reference/source for your information then I will be mollified and even eager to indulge in some fascinating reading! (IMG: style_emoticons/default/00000047.gif) BTW: My 'friend' wasn't very happy with your description as he says "Since I like mutton, that makes me a what?" Not happy at all!

By the definition my Dragon friend gave it makes him a chaos Wyrm. But if he is your friend,so be it.I have friends who are generally thought of as "bad" as well.if he is not then he is not. There are several sub-species about.
I wouldn't know anything about RPG ers,I never played them period, nope.not even a little.
I stand on what I was told, most of your "historical" blah blah was written by those who hunted and killed Dragons and chaos Wyrms alike.
And before you color me as a "fluffy" or new ager,I'm far from fluffy, and peacelovelight crap makes me ill.
And as for our "scaly friends"I am sworn to protect them, and I will promptly seek to kick the liveing **** out of anyone who abuses or harms one, carnivore or not.
Can you tell me of what tribe/fammily your friend is from? on the odd chance that I owe him an appology.

Greetings GeNoCyDe, Radiant Star and SaintGeorge! Since source material was getting hard to find about Dragons and my intolerance of where this thread should be, I whined myself into splitting the topic thread and ,hopefully, declared this thread a Safe Zone for Dragons, whatever their ilk.(Thank you Radiant Star, who has patiently kicked my britches) My bud is very old and has a a Pterodon-like body...yet dragonish...) He's quite large and has been hanging around since I was a kid (about 50+ years). We formally met about 20+ years ago whilst on a shamanic journey to the World Tree. He took me flying. His Family-I have no idea, save that he is known in Faery as the mythmaker (story teller). His original colouring was bronze with brassy highlights (not gold, though he is touchy about that). These glow through his everyday colors of a deep mahogeny brown with black streakings (almost like a watermelon seed) and his underbelly is a mottled silver gray. His name translates as "Smoke over the Mountain at Night". He likes an occasional sheep or whatever though never brings it home after my sister freaked out about the sheepskin rug... He has quite an acerbic wit but tends to be very pragmatic and is horribly protective. Well...um...not horrible to me. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) He does have a sense of humor like peering into the window with his dinnerplate eyes and startling the crap out of me! LOL! That's the lowdown on His Nibs. I look forward to seeing your posts! -Bym

Because it is hard to believe in dragons for most people, I thought I would indulge myself in a little detective work in the form of a Tarot reading for my Dharma to see if he indeed is who he appears to be. I have found my dragon to be a loving and yes, like others, highly protective being. He has a terrific, if unusual sense of humour and loves magick and water; much of this was born out in the reading and if I find it, I will return here and post it (IMG: style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) I have seen Geno's dragon, she is, or was, a beautiful emerald queen, at least I think it was his, much more graceful than my laddie and a smaller and finer head, I think there is some kind of whitish thing that sticks up on her head, not sure what it is, but reminds me of those things that top the peacocks head. Bym, yours sounds rather good looking, I might see if I can take a look at him from a distance.

Dragon personalaties: Since my posts earlier I've come to have two other dragons come live with me,one is a Voidian war mount, the other is an earth dragon, the Void dragon eats meat as well as other things you'd rather not know about! (IMG: style_emoticons/default/5.gif) But he and the big blue guy seem to be friends,Tia however dislikes the Voidian cousin and gets very protective when he comes out at night. The two new guys are very chatty, blue likes to roam around in my home at night and is quite entertaining to watch,he has this habit of folding his wings about him and looking at me in this most adoreing fashon, the Voidian one just curls up on my steamer trunk until dawn then he heads for the well out back. Both are EXTREMELY intelligent and the Voidian one seems to be a bit of a prophet, but only in things that concern him. Blue likes to chat as well but he's typically shy,he came with the Voidian dragon one night last week after we had a bit of trouble.

Greetings! The dragon which made itself known to me around three months ago ... is still here ... it is very taciturn ... it is green with areas of brown on its scales .... I have observed it wandering around the house.. It stands to me left from time to time .... It appears to have grown in size since I first saw it ... I try to feed it with balls of excess energy I have prior to going to bed.... am I doing the right thing here? It made 'contact' with a sensitive friend of mine last week and informed her it was a 'key holder' of some kind and also a doorkeeper???? Make sense to anyone .... I sense I am to call it DOM ... Dominic for some reason?? It is not an old dragon for sure .... HOw do I make further progress??? What key does it hold? What door? Why has it tagged onto me?? (IMG: style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) Any help would be greatly appreciated

Greetings Radiant Star! Thanks for that advice. How do you find out if the dragon 'is yours'?? I don't wish to lay claim to a seperate intelligence ... that would be slavery ... the dragon I see as a companion or a kindred spirit ... As I write I sense it moving in close to me ... aware of my thoughts and perhaps sensing my intentions .... there is a fizzy floaty feeling in my head and the sense of some kind of telepathic 'fusion' ... a warmth in the head and a consolidation of awareness ... Does this sound like the dragon communicating with me in some way??? I can sense it has 'adopted' some kind of form beside me ... as it has lost its bulk and there is no awareness of its wings??? Could dragons be of the sidhe or faerie??? The dragon form being something they adopted after many centuries of human interaction providing them with a 'scary form' to protect their gentleness behind .... ???? This is what I am feeling with this connection here .... The dragon seems to indicate it came here from 'space' .... some cosmic abode ... it was curious ... and I sense they have similar 'vision quests' to the native americans ... go off into the cosmos to seek out certain things or tasks and then go back to their abode??? Do I sound weird with this insight? Are there stellar dragons??? The dragon seems to think I am on the right track though it is not 'talking' to me ... it is kind of manipulating my thinking .... I see a land through what I perceive to be its eyes ... and there is a feeling of a red or crimson hue to its vision. Do dragons have 'handlers' or 'riders'???? I ask because some other entity has now made its presence known behind me and it seems linked to the dragon like it will ride it when the dragon is older???? I am out of my depth here as I didn't expect this kind of insight .... The dragon seems to suggest it can assist me in astral projection??? Like I follow it or share its energy or its knowledge of wormholes???? What is it I am picking up on if it isn't the dragon as I know from my decades of experience that this isn't my imagination running wild or playing games with me!!!! Gosh, they are a lot of questions Mr Merlin! My relationship with mine is straightforward and much more simple. I know he is mine because he was sent to me and we get on and he stays close. Dragons are normally with you for a reason, try to find out why it has come to you. As for whether it is real, try asking it some questions or noticing what it does; if it can tell you things that you couldn't possibly ahve known, then it is real as far as you can tell. Take a look at my Dragon Tales in Cryptozoology - these are TRUE stories and incidences that finally convinced me that Dharma is real. As to whether he is a real part of me that is very psychic or a completely separate entity, that I cannot prove, only to say that since he was an unexpected arrival and I did not believe in dragons prior to this, then that makes mine real to me. As for your impressions and sensations, make a good note of them and watch for patterns, this will help you sort out impostors from your own; there should be a signature movement or signal that yours always gives you that will show you who he is - a bit like an identity card. Exciting isn't it (IMG: style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Hey cool. Other people with dragon friends :)
'My' dragons tend to come and go as they please but I have a regular rotation of 9-12 around. They love to be talked about and they usualy read over my shoulder like right now :)
The main biggie is Gregory and his 'partner' is Sebastian. I find that they can change size if they wish, from the palm of your hand to the size of a fortress, but generall Gregory is about the size of a small house. He's kinda beefy and muscley and a soft moss/foresty green with some blotches of brown. His underbelly is a dusty tan and the has a few stubby horns.
He's making disparaging comments to me but I cant hear him clearly at the moment. -_-
Good old Gregory usually has tiny little wings.
Sebastian is...different. He's a shimmering blue color...kinda like a sapphire. He doesnt have horns but his scales go out all over the place like spikes. His wings are large and his neck & tail are...huge. He's a bit smaller than Gregory. He has kind of a black patten on his back that goes down his tail. I met him in a snow drift last year :)
Gregory tends to be the Guardian and Sebastian is the Aggressor...or aggressive protector. He gets little use and tends to be smug. He'll send a strange tickle down my back sometimes, I ge the feeling it has to do with the things he finds funny. Like teasing me.
The others come and go....There is Roark (a smooth grey dragon wth a silvery mane), Mephisto (who is a Greek dragon...go figure), Sarah, Jake, Gryffon, Leon, Xiang (chinese dragon there...he's moody and doesnt often talk or check on me), Albert and Beatrice (who are twin blue colored dragons...like my big sister and somehow Al is like my little brother), Nathan (he's black and silver and seems ot take delight in mayhem and destruction, regardless if it is for or against me), Barbados (Who flippin scares the hell out of me sometimes. I can't see him clearly, hes mostly a shadow form in the shape of a dragon, he has 3 unblinking white eyes...give me snarky comments on occassion but is usually silent), and Patrick (who is a purpley peacock colored dragon who drops by sometimes).
Theres also a horde of little dragons that come around. They bug the cat sometimes.
Generally I find most of them like big cats. They kind of purr when they are pleased and I can 'feel' their smiles and moods. Sometimes they drop images into my head and that's always weird. :) Rarely do I hear their voices.
Mephisto is the one who tells me things, and the information is sparring and usually its volunteered. Not often is the times he will answer a question I ask.
Apparently these are their names translated into earth tongue...and it can be from whatever language they identify with. Some of them have more...fantastical names, like Zor, or Zabber.
I've set aside stones for them, each has a favorite. They also seem to like my sword and have given not so good reviews on the only book on 'dragon magick' I could find. Most of them find it amusing at least. :)
I love my dragons. ^_^
