My guess about Egypt is that what ever the dream represents it is from your past. Likely from your distant past as Egypt would represent to the sub-consciousness a time long ago. Its possible the dream could have been of a past life but I don't know if you subscribe to that theory or not. You could do past life regression through hypnosis or guided imagery but the problem with these is that often the memory of the past life expeirence is produced through the session of past life regression itself and really is only a product of the power of suggestion on the part of the hypnotist. More information would be needed to really tell you what the dream means.
The sub-consciousness has an abstract way of expressing thoughts and desires. Most the dreams you have are insignificant and really don't repressent much other than "back round" thoughts and desires - things with low priority.
For example you watch a commercial and most likely you're mind is tuning into something else other than the commercial and you're in a sort of split-mind set where you are focused on two trains of thought: 1. The commercial; 2. What ever else that may be going on in your life. Enough of your mind is engaged into paying attention to the commercial that you could probably tell somebody what it was about if they asked within five minutes or so. But because the commercial likely means very little to you over all you'll forget much of it later on (which is why advertizers play the same commercial over and over) Yet, even though you're conscious mind forgets about most of the commercials you see on tv, bits and pieces of memory remain. These sub-memories are mostly sensory feedback and stimuli on certain areas of the brain - these are back round thoughts. Sort of like white noise or static from a radio. The reason why they are considered thoughts at all is because they can influence your dreams.
