Alright, I have a surgery for my lazy eye on this coming friday at around 11:30 a.m. The doctors are going to correct my lazy eye, but they are going to put me to sleep with anaesthetics. Now my question will be in a bit. I was on amazon and I looked at The Projection of the Astral Body by S. Muldoon, and I was searching inside the book, and it said that the only times that people projected were, when they fall asleep, etc. etc. But the book also said that people astral project (OOBE) when they are put to sleep by anaesthetics. Now here is my question: Is it true that anaesthetics induce OOBEs? If you guys know, then please tell me, because I am interested in learning more. But if you do not know, then well, I will tell you on Friday I guess!
Thanks,
Chaos_mage4

First of all, what is this that you can only project while sleeping? I MUST say that is a crock of s***. Anyone can project while awake if your practiced enough. Or a natural.

Projection while under anesthetics is possible, yes. But is it often? Not to my knowledge or understanding. I really wouldn't worry about so much, honestly. I've been under anesthetics before, and have had no problems. But even if you do, it still shouldn't be a problem, because we do have natural tendancies to lift off in our sleep without being consciously aware.

Greetings Chaos_mage4 and DollHouseKitty!
First, a trivial something: I didn't think that they will put you to sleep to correct the eye problem...usually they numb the area up and give you a tranquilizer but avoid knocking you out because your eyes roll back when you're out and they can't access some of the muscles...I've had the surgery and others have had it and they didn't knock us out...but I'm not a doctor so I'm not familiar with your case file. That being said...
I've only projected once whilst under anaesthesia. The tranquilizer they gave me first helped keep me calm enough to allow this to happen. IMHO, I think that you'll have other issues to think about whilst in surgery! DollHouseKitty is correct when she states that you can project while being wide awake! Most texts tell you that you should try to do this BEFORE you fall asleep...I project best when I'm awake...It can be a matter of timing! Some prefer a method of projecting during a lucid dream state...this is really touch and go until you've mastered the technique.
One trouble with anaethetics is that you are not in control of their action upon the body and therefore cannot 'wake up' from the OBE until the chemicals clear. People who project this way are often under the drug effect for longer periods of time or have a natural penchant for this to happen. Me being a control freak makes me try other methods. Good luck on the morrow with your operation! I hope that this will solve the eye problem (which is more important than an OOBE) and you'll gain some insight as to the effects of the anaesthesia on your system. Be well! Thanks for the replies guys. And I am TERRIBLY sorry, as the book really does not say that. It says that your body projects when under those conditions. (Going to sleep, anaesthetics, etc.) The book says that you project under those conditions. It did not say that those were the only conditions. I am sorry for me typing it wrong. Lol, sorry guys. But thanks for the replies! And yeah, they are going to put me to sleep BYM, the doc explained the whole thing. Anaesthetics, and then I.V.
Alright, well I will tell you guys what will happen on Friday!
Thanks,
Chaos_mage4

Good Luck! When I had the procedure they used a local anaesthetic and IV sedation. I was awake for the entire procedure. Needless to say, it was totally painless and took about 4 hrs....since everyone is different, I'm sure the doc will procede in your best interest! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) You may or may not need a patch...again, Good Luck! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

Sorry I never went into details lol, forgot. Anyway, we went to the hospital, and waited for ever lol, and when the doctor finally came, I requested laughing gas. I was getting the laughing gas, and the doctors then put me under. I didn't astral project, but then again I was worrying about the laughing gas (of which if I get another surgery I'm NOT going to request laughing gas lol, it feels like your dieing) and then I woke up in the recovery room, so no AP this time, but I might need a surgery on my ear, because I have recurring ear infections in that ear.
Thanks and sorry for the LOOOOONG wait,
Christopher
