I've just realised that i'm missing a tarot deck and needed to get one, but I will need a good deck, hearing about Dr. Johannes Faust's tarot deck I was aroused.

As far as i've heard, Dr. Faust's deck is exceptional, but something tells me that its alot similar to the Necronomicon, in that it has a long history behind it, the eldritch of all eldritch tarot decks...

Now who has heard of Dr. Faust's deck? who has used his deck? Anything so special about it?

QUOTE
THE STRUCTURE OF THE INFERNAL TAROT OF DOCTOR JOHANNES FAUST

The Infernal Tarot consists of four parts.
Part one includes the cards one through six. Cards from part one represent the spirits of the Great Infernal Government. The SNAKE is symbol of this part.
Part two, the cards from seven through thirteen, represents the seven Infernal Grand Dukes. Their symbol is the TRIDENT.
Part three, the cards fourteen through eighteen, represents the five Grand Ministers and Infernal Counsels, whose symbol is the BAT.
Part four, the cards nineteen through thirty, represents the twelve Dukes, or provincial rulers, of the Great Infernal Empire. Their symbol is the INVERTED PENTAGRAM.
The first eighteen spirits connect with the 18 Futhork Runes, which is the most powerful Runic system in use. If you want to be a perfect magician, it is imperative that you master this powerful Runic system! Write the KOR for details! The remaining twelve spirits connect with the twelve signs of the zodiac.
Each card represents a spirit, its rank, number, complementary number, rune, color, and action for good and evil.
Furthermore, each card connects with a tree, plant, animal, mineral, and many more things on the material and astral planes.
All the numbers on the cards add up to 666! The complementary numbers on the cards are 666 minus the number of the spirit. In other words: the number of a spirit and its complement add up to 666! All the complementary numbers add up to 19,314. This little known infernal number has some very special powers that we will reveal only to members of the O.A.I.!
You will not find all these correlations in this booklet! To have all secrets revealed to you, you need to be a member of the O.A.I. (Ordo Algolis Infernalis).
However, if you know how to read between the lines, you will soon realize just how powerful the stuff is that you are privileged to deal with!

...hmm, sounds a little sleazy.

Hey Faustopheles.

I've been seeking for Tarot cards, but I wanted good ones and more "old" ones. Dr. Faust's deck really lustred for me, but i've no clue what the specialty about his deck is. I'll read more on it however; the little I can find.

Thanks for the links though, i'll check them out, they seem they can help.

Oh, you were asking about the historic Dr. Faust... I thought that was the name of the deck. Yeah, I've heard some people talk about the deck he may have used, I don't think there is a consensus though. Check out link 1 and Link 2 as they are really informative sites about the Tarot and the history of the designs. I think there were only 7 decks that were produced before and during the historic Faust's lifetime, you'll find them listed in Link 2 (under Key Pages> Tarot Decks> Tarot Decks by Date). Good luck, let me know if you manage to find a place that sells these as I could use a new deck myself.

Forget lInk 1 , check out Link 2, it is one of the most amazing Tarot sites I have ever seen...it's appropriately named Tarotpedia! There are links to high-resolution pictures of some of the oldest decks in existence.

O I thought he had a tarot deck for "himself", the reason I know not much about his deck is because of the lack of history behind his tarot deck, but that is also the case about the man himself.

However, what i'm trying to find out is if "his very own tarot deck" as was rumored by many is actually what they say it is, if it is such a good tarot deck. If not, i'd surely try and find another "old" tarot deck.

Good luck, let me know if you manage to find a place that sells these as I could use a new deck myself.

I think I know a place where they sell the deck, though i've a place I must attend to in a few minutes and will return several hours later.

Mind if I find the link and pm it later?

I just realised that the link I saw the tarot on was the one you listed:

http://www.geocities.com/ordoalgolisinters...ernaltarot.html

That's practically the most information I got from the site.

My thoughts on this are that it probably is not the Tarot made by Dr. Faustus, although the infernal hierarchy matches that of the Black Raven- the German grimoire allegedly used by him to summon Mephistopheles. For one the art on the cards does not fit the style of 16th century art (i.e. the definition of muscles on the demons and the use of depth perspective on some of the scenes). Put them next to any piece of art of the early 16th C. and you will see what I mean. Or better yet check out the 16th century Tarot cards on the tarotpedia link I posted above.

The other thing that throws me off are the claims made by the site who sells this deck. Two things that caught my attention and just seem ridiculous are:

QUOTE

and

QUOTE
It is an order that traces its existence back to the most ancient of all religions. Its membership includes the most powerful magicians of the universe. The O.A.I. is millions of years old! Therefore it existed long before the human race came to roam this planet, Earth.

Now I’ve been studying the occult for nearly a decade and have never heard of the O.A.I…. perhaps they are the organization of the most powerful magicians and my ignorance just confirms my magical impotence, but I highly doubt this. If you want my advice, I say don’t waste your money.

I gathered so, no im not going to waste my money on such advertisement, they seem too desperate for members to join them (people they know nothing about online), to be what they claim they are.

Anyone claiming such things are to be doubted and skeptical about.

However, I will still continue trying to find the best Tarot deck I can, also the older.

I already just bought Mr. Crowley's "Thoth deck", is that a good choice?

Ahhh yes a good deck. I have owned that for some time. The number one card the magus numbers three seperate cards in the deck. Hmmm i have a link if you are interested two actually. There is a book that explains the crowley tarot in depth. NO JOINING or anything needed. And also one that shows good ways to obe while in meditation with tarot cards. Mostly involving high magic.

Greetings Deathstalker and Enochian,

What a coincidence, I also just bought (as in a few hours ago) a Thoth Tarot with the purpose of using it for meditation.

I believe that the Book of Thoth is an essential guide to the Thoth Deck. I also bought the Book of Thoth afterwards.

I think there may be the pdf too.
