I firmly believe the words of the community which is around me. They speak of the end of the world we know and the start of a new one. One we enter around 2012 ....

Prophet_Ezra, you disappoint us by your act of going by your earlier community rather than by members of this forum. We are not all fools here.

the end of the world, its just a matter of how you see it. Perhaps society will fall, nations will shatter. Its possible...

But none of these things i would call the end of the world. neither do a few events point to such a thing. It is highly unlikely that any kind of natural phenomena is strong enough to wipe out mankind, since we are stationed worldwide. Only a large meteor could have such a devestating worldwide effect. Hurricanes are common, they happen every year, just because this one hurricane strikes at the wrong place and time, does not mean it forebodes the end of the world.
If this was a disaster that means the end of the world, then it surely has some work to do. Not that much people died because of it, far less than in the terrorist attack of 9-11. True, the chaos is enormous there, and peoples lives are upset. Perhaps more will die in the chaos. But even then the death count will be relitavely low compared to the amount of humans walking this earth, or the amount dying of hungre in third world countries.

A few small burps from nature and people are alreadying seeing it as the end of the world. What is it, fear, disbelief... ? Less than 0,00001% of mankind died in two natural disasters, oooooh, what tragedy?

I will tell you this. at the end of the year 2012 i will come to these forums, and laugh at these predictions. There is no reason for the world to end, and nature has no means to cause that much devestation, nor does it has a reason. Predicting the end of the world just shows how much some people elevate the importance of mankind on this rock.

Nature should not be underestimated, even if we pollute this planet to the limit, we will just kill ourselves off. Then after ten thousands of years, a small second in the life of a planet, the earth will be restored as if we were never here.

A few days, only a few days of not burning fossil fuels, will almost cure the greenhouse effect. It is only because we keep burning that it still exists.

I predict that oil supplies will long be depleted by 2012, alternative green fuels will exist, and life will be greener and more healthy than ever.

We've experienced hurrican force winds here in Hamilton over the last few days. Hundreds of trees felled and strange cloud formations. Plus a strange 'whirring booming' noise in the sky with the wind.

We've got weather warnings of more real bad high winds tonight (it's always at night??? Calm during the day and winds when it is dark .... why is that?)

It was reported that Hamilton was hit with a tornado. Hamilton doesn't get tornadoes??

That is cetainly odd about the tornadoes. I thought the season was done for them up there by now? Well, in Alberta and Saskatchewan.

Global warming at it's finest. I hope everything fares well for you up there.

Blessings and Peace

Yeah, the ozone depletion disgusts me too, on a physical level mostly, what I would give to breathe fresh air no matter where I go.

I see the end of the world more as a metaphor and figurative stance than anything literal. Revelations is a brilliant example of what can happen when people start taking things too litterally though I suppose the end might happen that way (IMG:style_emoticons/default/king.gif)

Though the hurricane is transient it's interesting to note that all it's on the heels of the large tsunami, which in turn on the heels of a rather large earthquake in china that killed hundreds (Maybe the earthquake came in between). I don't believe in coincidence, more often than not coincidence is a word the average person uses to forget about the magic in the world. Of course that these are all happening at once doesn't entail the end of the world in my opinion, but perhaps its a trend and one that may grow.

I for one am never pleased to see the loss of life no matter how small a quantity of the population that may be. If disasters do keep striking the toll will only increase, though its not appealing to myself, it's not something I fear.

There are actually many ways the earth could kill off nearly everyone or everyone if it so deemed. Spinning out of orbit would basically destroy every human, a total polarity and shift into another ice age would most definitely not be good, and that's just a couple of possibilites. If the powers that be abandoned this earth many different things destructive possibilites could occur.

Now is december 21, or 22nd (not twelfth) 2012 a doomsday for earth? It's a rhetorical question, and one that I doubt, but a coincidence like such as a date is not something I am willing to ignore. It would most definitely be a good thing if the world no longer used gasoline by that date but who knows how deep the wells of oil are, just because the price is up doesn't mean it's almost gone. Will humankind still be polluting the world with nuclear waste by 2012? More than likely yes, I'm not attempting to be a scare monger of course, but I think that's it's foolhardy for governments to ignore the earth and pretend humanity is living on it's own. We ain't humankind is living on earth.

the oil will last some more, true. But it will become increasingly difficult to produce oil from these wells. that is why the prises are rising.
Goverments will have no choise but to fund the research on alternative fuels, the current prices are ripping our economy apart. Many products are made of oil, cosmetics, plastic, much is made of plastic these days. And the import and export of various products also rely on fossil fuels.
If the demands for fuel cannot be met, then there are two options. Stop driving around, stop import and export. Or switch to other fuel sources. Wich is most likely?
Besides, goverments are already funding research on alternative fuels.

Yes, it is always sad when people die, people are not just numbers, i have the greatest symphaty for those people.
