Greetings All,
A few weeks ago I had been reading of the Tree of Knowledge in a Book called "The Book of Fallen Angels" by Michael Howard. In the book there was a description of a 1961 Anthropologists encounter with the yahuasca Vine of the Conibo Peruvian Indians in the Amazon Rain Forest.
The encounter and experience described by the AnthropologistMichael Horner, Ph.D, excited me to the point that I ordered some Ayahuasca Vine through a Botanical Herbal Company. The pulped Vine was delivered by the Post Office some days later and I began prepartion of the Concoction the best way i could figure. I added water about 5 times and boiled it down each time to a soupy concoction. I then let it cool for about 1 1/2 hours and began drinking it.
I can sure see why the Anthropologist called the drink "The Little Death" since it has got to be the most bitter tasting drink I ever drank. Plus the last effects you will have is a motion sickness that seems like the merest movement shall make your skeleton come out of the skin. And your guts shall wrench as if you are about to vomit, yet I never did.
Now for the Good and Finer effects from the Ayahuasca Vine after first drinking the potion. It seemed as if there were traces of light pattern in the area above my head and wherever there was anything shiny it was magnified many times. The music I played was Rush 2112 on the Stereo and it was as if each chord and not was alive with vibrational color, and as if there was some Inner Meaning coming through the Music that was delivering my Soul, or in a sense giving me Spiritual Merit.
Then I was overwhelmed with the euphoric feeling of Well-Being and a Warm Nestalgia concerning anything my mind seemed to think about. It was a time of great exhileration as well as if the energy from the core of the Earth were drawing up through my feet and upward throughout all Energy Centers of my Body. The Currents of Energy went to a space just above my Head and seemed to settle there as a protective covering.
The last think I experienced worth noting was; I had to shut my eyes because they were getting very heavy and I was becoming tired fast. While my eyes were shut, Isaw a Emerald Luminescent Lunar Munath that seemed to Radiate an Energy around it in my Spiritual Site. It was three dimensional and it appeared fully formed. I still don't know why I saw that. Plus there were various color swhirls as of energy patterns in my sight just before I fell asleep.
Has anyone else had any experience with the Ayahuasca Vine. I would be interested in hearing of your experience. By the way it was legal to purchase the vine online.
Respectfully, Helel (Joseph)

Greetings, Ayahausca is without doubt a powerful shamanistic herb. I tend to liken it's effects to Amanita's Muscari but with a deeper sense of self involved. The first time I used it I just layed on the floor of my temple in the complete dark (it was about 3am) and I played the Doors. Just as Jim went into 'Five to One' I seemed partially project astrally into the Sephirotic world of Tifaret. It wasn't a full projection with sound and feeling, but I could see all of these geometric patterns joining and breaking apart. When the effects wore off I drew up quick sketches of some of what I saw and did some research. Turns out the geometric patterns were pieces of Hebrew letters. Couldn't translate anything cause there had been no sentences or anything i could discern. But it was definitely enlightening. Also, when you take Ayahausca, you're supposed to vomit. It's an important part of the 'ritual' use of the plant. The south american shamans say that it's akin to vomiting out your spiritual impurities, so don't shy away from doing that part of it. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/q20.gif) lol But it sounds like you had a good experience overall with Mami 'hausca. This post has been edited by Nosotro Tehuti: May 16 2007, 01:12 PM

Ive made the brew, assembled from the internet, used Vine and Leaves with a rice cooker, never had any naseua or brewed any duds, ritual wise ive always (only brewed 3 times) blown tobacco smoke over the mix to purify it and give me some insurance. having experimeted with most hallucingenogens(sp) Ayahuasca is the most powerful substance ive ever encountered had full on entity contact with extradimensional bee/butterfly thing that seemed to be independent of my mind. ((i know it sounds crazy, but this was so far off from reality)) I was scared to relay my experience, I stopped after 3 times because i was flying off into David Icke La La land. The "dream" experience, for me was totally out of body, had an interesting passage through some Enochian type dimension, tried to work throught the Tree of life but the chemical propelled me beyond any coherent model i could make up. Still have some material left to brew but am hesitant to make it again solo. plus i need the right enviroment/time to make it special. In summary I'd say Ayahuasca will test anyone's limit.

The active ingredient in Ayahuasca is DMT, otherwise known as businessman's lunch (due to the quick high and comedown and relatively unnoticeable after effects). If you had the proper ayahausca then you should have basically had your whole world fall down around you and you would have been visited by alien beings and creatures made up of colours and letters and sounds who communicated to you in a language that you could not repeat and were lucky and surprised to understand.
DMT is the most powerfull hallucinogen known to man. The problem is that when taken orally - it doesn't work. Proper Ayahuasca brews contain not only the DMT active plants, but also another plant which contains a type of drug known as a Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitor, which allows the DMT to become active when ingested orally. This is the drug that causes the vomiting. MAOI's as they are called are also used in western medicine as anti depressents, but are used as a last resort due to their potentially dangerous diet interactions - hence the vomiting, and also the reason why most tribes who use ayahausca will fast before ingesting it. So in relation to this you should find out if you were sent just the dmt vine, cause it wont work without the MAO inhibitor plants as well.
Rick Strassman developed the theory that DMT is the drug that is released into the brain at the moment of death, and is responsible for the "near death experience", but this is still unproven and remains a theoretical hypothesis.
DMT is an interdimensional capsule, and it is impossible to undertake any kind of systematic magickal work while enjoying the effects of a full dose. You enter a level of reality that you have absolutely no control over, beyond your reaction to it (which from my experience is important), and most of the experiences myself and many others have had are centred around "question time" with various beings who either just lecture you without time to respond, or will incorporate as i mentioned the opportunity to ask questions.
Many people report meeting similar beings and situations, the "grey place" and the mechanical elves, the bee/butterfly, the stick men, and the information creatures (made up of letters numbers colours and sounds) being some of the more common.
Be careful, once you become apart of the world of ayahausca, it can be very difficult to maintain a normal existence of 9 to 5. When you have been examined and had the meaning of life reveled to you by a 100 foot high butterfly, it kind of makes conversations about whats on tv tonight seem a little superfluous!!!
Have fun!!!

search the internet, there are many many sites for it.
Ayahuasca is indeed ALWAYS 2 hebs, so to say it is the soul vine is false, since it is in fact a combination of 2 different plants. And a combination of 2 different types of plant:
1. The inhibitor this plant stops certain enzymes in your body from breaking down the DMT in the other plant. It is therefor called a monoamine oxydase inhibitor. However, this same function makes you at risk for various types of heavy and deadly food poisoning. This can and will kill you if you are not careful. You must be aware of what you eat before and after taking this plant. Possible plants: Banisteriopsis caapi, Peganum harmala,
2. The DMT containt herb. This is the psychoactive plant, however without the first plant it cannot and will not ever induce any effects. The drug DMT can run its free course because the mono amines that normally break it down are disabled by the inhibitor. Plants: Psychotria viridis, Mimosa hostilis, Chaliponga, Desmanthus illinoensis, Phalaris arundinacea,
The combination of these 2 is called Ayahuasca, which is the name of the brew, there is no vine or plant that is called ayahuasca. Ayahuasca can be made with various plants, but it is always a combination of the above 2 types. Possible plants are listed above under 1 or 2. Though the list is not complete. Any combination of plants from list1 and 2 can be called ayahuasca. But please be careful what you eat with it, because you could die, not from the drugg itself but from the food you eat after or before it.
The reason DMT is called a buisines mans trip is because when smoked a DMT trip lasts about 40 minutes and can be taken during lunch. However the herbs contain almost no DMT and are not active when smoked, unless you smoke the equivalent of 50 -100 cigarettes on a 10 minute period. The smoked DMT is always pure freebase DMT that can be smoked, its in crystal form. google google images for freebase DMT. You will not get any DMT effects from smoking herbs that are used in ayahuasca. There are guides on how to make freebase DMT available on the internet, you could buy some phalaris and extract it freebase from that. Its cheap, the grass is easy to grow and it won't attract any unwanted attantion from police.
What extinctionspasm describes are the effects of pure DMT, they are entirely different from ayahuasca, freebase DMT is much more direct and over much quiker as wel, while ayahuasca can take almost 6-8 hours if i remember correctly.
Also, DMT is not only released during death, it has been found that you trip on DMT every night. When the body slips into dreamstate the pineal gland releases DMT into the brain, which causes dreams to occur. This happens every night, even if you don't remember it. So the pope himselfs trips on DMT every night!
I read the same book it seems as extinctionspasm, but he did not remember the read accurately. The book is called "Dmt: the Spirit Molecule" by the same rick as extinctionspasm mentions. However the book is on DMT that is injected into the subjects of the tests, not taken orally. The effects described in the book are enourmously different from the effects of ayahuasca. The quick come-on of the drug, the intense visions and slipping into a complete dream state (i.e. eyes closed and half asleep) are the most prevalent effects of freebase DMT, however these effects do not occur when taking ayahuasca or perhaps some really mellowed down version.
Ayahuasca is mellower, slower, more organic in its effects than freebase DMT, freebase takes you and pulls you from this world, in a few seconds, very harshly and before you are completely aware of it. It is said that when smoking freebase you will remember your third inhalation, but not the exhalation of the smoke.

I gotta say something about the original post.
If you did everything as you said it, then I can say that you absolutely experienced nothing that wasn't the result of your imagination. DMT is inactive orally, and you didn't include anything that contained an MAOI.
DMT is a simple monoamine and readily destroyed by your endogenous Monoamine Oxidase (MAO) system. There's absolutely no way to have an effect with an oral herbal preperation that's missing an MAOI. It might be possible with multiple grams of the stuff, but there's no way you got that through an herbal prep.
If you did, in fact, include an MAOI, I don't think you would have described your experience the way you did.
I've been to Brazil and took part in a UDV ritual (aka "The Ayahuasca Church"), and every single person there purged. In spanish, it's often known as La Purga, or the purge. I've never seen anyone (50 or 60 people) not vomit or have diarrhea.
I've only used it about 10 times, and I haven't been to another church event, but every time, I purged twice (once on each end), almost like clockwork. 30 minutes after dosing, and then 10 minutes later. And then I'm fine.

QUOTE(CosmicInferno @ Aug 10 2007, 07:46 PM) actually to me it sounds like he has consumed the MAOIs and not DMT.
if by Ayahuasca Vine he does mean banisteriopsis caapi, then this is definitely the case. with no mention of the addition of psychotria/mimosa/acacia/etc i doubt this brew contained any DMT at all.
and just for the sake of clarification, the name 'Ayahuasca' does refer to the brew containing both MAOI and DMT, but is also the name given the the vine itself. the Amazonian indians consider that the vine is the medicinal component of the brew and that the addition of DMT containing plants is to add 'light' to the visions. partaking in an Ayahuasca brew that contains no dmt plants is certainly not unheard of and can be very powerful. yeah, actually I think you're more- right. harmaline content is awfully low in traditionally-brewed ayahuasca's. not that it doesn't have an effect itself, though. At traditional doses, though, I think the main effect to be gotten is some sedation, perhaps a bit of a drunk feel. with DMT, though, I bet it's quite potentiated, since psychedelic action is (though to) occur at the same receptors, i believe 5ht2a.
