I am very very new to magic, and I want to learn more about contacting a dragon. I don't think there are many books on the subject, the only one I know about is "Dancing with Dragons", which I have, but I heard isn't very reliable, and the wicca way can fail and your subconsious can trick you. I just want refrence material, I do not want to make an attempt with little knowledge and possibly succede and offend or anger the dragon (IMG:style_emoticons/default/velho.gif). Even if "Dancing with Dragons"is a reliable book, being armed with more knowledge can't hurt.
Also, it worries me that dragons may not like me and want to come near me, like stated above that my mind will trick itself, or that I wont be able to see or sense the dragon. I may have one already and not know it><.
I really want a dragon companion, they are the aspect of magical practice that most intrests me and brought me into magic.
I am sorry if this post is annoying or something and gets deleted(though I hope not, I really need some help).

Hello!

I own a copy of 'Dancing With Dragons'. I find that if you look hard enough and tune out the back ground noise (in this case the biasedness of the author) then you can glean a few things from it. Just be sure not to take what she says without a grain of salt...or a handful in this case. Just becasue she says this is the way isn't true, granted she mentions that she was taught this by an older, evolved spirit on a different plane, personal experience has shown me that a lot of what she says either is totally false or twisted around.

I don't think there is one exact way of doing it. Dragons tell me contrary information all of the time--they don't all come from the same place, or have the same background or ideas. If you can pick up basic principles and then begin to experiment and work with that is right for you, you should be able to find the best way.

I would recommend meditation (as always! ^_^), as well as exercises to develop your astral sight/hearing/senses. Exercises that allow you to communicate with spirit guides and whatnot may also help. After you have adequately developed these senses, then its a matter of just calling a dragon to you, which is as straight forward as it sounds. In the end it's up to a dragon if it chooses to drop by for a visit.

Keep in mind that all of this can take time. Maybe years before you can see or hear our draconic bretheren clearly, or maybe you'll be a natural and pick it up in a month. You never know until you try. :)

If you go searching for dragon magick on the net, mostly you'll get recycled stuff out of 'Dancing With Dragons'. There are a few unique sites, but they are sooo very difficult to find.

Myths and legends about dragons, however, are plenty. I'd suggest looking deeper into the myths and history of dragons--you'll find many surprising and delightful things. Myself, I'm a collector (or hoarder if you will) of dragon knowledge. There are several good books out there dealing with dragons and ancient serpents. The internet is rife with them as well. Any time I find a new piece of info I make note and am sure to cross reference. :)

You might be interested to look into some basic ceremonial magick rituals that aid in developing your astral senses too. There are tonnes of posts on this board that are very helpful, as well as a few videos.

Hope you got something out of all that rambing,
PAX

By a route obscure and lonely,
Haunted by ill angels only,
Where an Eidolon, named NIGHT,
On a black throne reigns upright,
I have reached these lands but newly
From an ultimate dim Thule-
From a wild clime that lieth, sublime,
Out of SPACE- out of TIME.

My dragon used to terrorize me as a child and I was formally introduced as an adult. But...that all for another story. Good Luck! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

I agree with Jabberwock here, quite simply, if you don't develop the clairs as in clairvoyant, clairsentient and clairaudient at least partially and in whichever is strongest in you, you would not be able to perceive a dragon even if one was sat on your shoulder.

The other worldy entities are not hidden away behind rocks and things, they are there but we don't get to see the other realms unless we develop ourselves.

Some people seem to be born with higher strength abilities and some of us have to keep working at development; its a bit like building up your stamina so that you can run further.

Go on, you can do it (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
