I have been considering constituents of ceremonial magick that seem common to the practices of solitares and Orders that do ritual work.

So far, I have come up with the following list:

Postures
Movements
Breathing
Vibrating
Casting a Circle
Setting Wards
Charging items
Invoking
Evoking
Exploring Planes/Aethyrs/Dimensions/Spheres/etc...

Have I missed anything crucial here?

This is more of an overall concept encompassing more than one on your list, often I think there is some attempt to provide a structure or map of the Universe and how it is organized. An attempt to establish some sort of reference point.

The Tree of Life is the most common or a set of Gods. It seems most work to establish some system of cosmology that may or may not be modified through use.

You are right, chaoscrowley37 - that one does deal with more.

I am going to hurl a post in Chaos Magick in a little while regarding the role of cosmology in magickal paradigms.

After considering this for a bit, at this point (and in this forum), I would like to keep the inquiry focused on the basic, and seemingly general, practices-techniques.

Along that line, are there any that I am missing?

Visualization?

I consider this to be seperate from Exploring Planes/etc..
I can't think of any that are left out for now if that is considered to be within some category previously mentioned.

Visualizing is good.

How about concentrating, meditating, and contemplating?

Or am I crossing the line there with regard to considering those three as techniques, instead of as tools that one then applies for enacting techniques aforementioned?

I'd definately add meditation. I think it's one of the principle building blocks (IMHO). The ability to observe thoughts, hold and focus on one in particular and keep the mind empty or blank are extremely valuble tools.

Personally I'd consider these foundation exercises required (or recommended) to fully use the other things you listed (well some of them). So Meditation could definately be added, especially in combination with breathing techniques.

Just my 3 cents.

From a wild clime that lieth, sublime,
Out of SPACE- out of TIME.
