Hey everyone. I thought it might be interesting to see where everyone lives. It could also serve as a good networking opportunity. Tell us about where you live, practice, etc. What kind of energy is abound? Are there many praticioners in your area? Feel free to expound on whatever you like.

I live in Colorado Springs, Colorado, but relocated here from Gainesville Florida. The town of Gainesville was saturated with praticioners, usally lower level wannabe's that attempted feats much too powerful for them. It was difficult to cut through all the energy of that town at times. Colorado Springs, on the other hand, is the HQ for Focus on the Family. Needless to say, there are very few practioners here. There is an oppressive energy in this town which makes magickal workings bit more difficult.

Oh yeah I moved this to the coffee shop too.

Technically I live in New York but I spend most of my time inside my time in my own little world.

--------------------
Cosmic consciousness is devoid of diversity; yet the universe of diversity exists in notion....
We contemplate that reality in which everything exists, to which everything belongs,
from which everything has emerged, which is the cause of everything and which is everything....
The light of [this] self-knowledge alone illumines all experiences. It shines by its own light.
This inner light appears to be outside and to illumine external objects.

I was born in your home town of Gainesville Fl at Alachua General hospital on the day of the lunar eclipse of June 4 1974. I agree Gainesville definitely has more energy than most places but to me the energy there is kinda wierd. I now live in New York CIty. Here there is so much energy it is easier to do magick here than anywhere I have ever traveled before.

I am fortunate enough to live in the middle of London, well almost and near a large park too!

There is all kinds of energy at different times here, though being on the clairvoyant side, it is rather a challenge to my senses and sometimes rather a challenge to zone in and out of with so much going on. I have found it very easy to work here despite our rather small house. The only resistance comes from me since I get lots of interruptions as we are a busy house and neighbours are very close, too close really.

There are more opportunities to enjoy meeting with other occultists here than in many places and I have enjoyed many a public ritual in both Ceremonial and Witchcraft styles. Sadly, one group that I was really fond of is no longer meeting, I shed a tear when I found out - I met some wonderful people there and will miss them a lot.

The other great thing is that I have at least three occult stores within a few miles, all easy to get to and whatever I need, book or item, I can always get hold of it or someone knows where I can.

Well, can' t think of any other relevant thing at the mo, will add it if I do (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

...location is relative, no?

i'm taking embryo steps (hardly visible at all, that is) on this Particular Part (i.e. the Forum) of my Path for the time being , but am nevertheless enjoying all interior and exterior movement. something in this space-located topic appealed to me, not the least since i, like no doubt many co-creators and/or co-participants, have ben through liking my own site/bubble/little world, disliking it, having others disapproving of it and now again, and more (grace)fully than ever, really melting into it, dwelling upon and in it, and above all maintaining it with growing tenderness. yes, this is a love song to existence with/out/side space and time!

and, more concretely, i became curious concerning the members of an english speaking community like this. understandably we so far seem to have a majority of people from the english speaking countries. personally, i represent something else - inhabiting a vast land of forests, fields and lakes, being one of around five million people in Finland. even the biggest towns are small, but there are a LOT of trees to listen to and silence to talk to. having recently spent some time in a quite opposite external surrounding - dakar, senegal, west africa - i've come to appreciate my origins in quite a new fashion.

the main thing, is, though: i like it here.

I live in Ontario at the bottom of the Niagara Escarpment. I find that energy seems to flow down from the top of the escarpment, leaving an area at the base of the escarpment in which there is a lot of free energy. The neo-pagan community in most of Ontario seems unfriendly. There is little cooperation or good feelings between different covens. I'm told that Ottawa is the only city in the province where the neo-pagan community is united. The particular community I live in is an Alexandrian Wicca stronghold, but as Alexandrians and Gardnerians are somewhat secretive, few people even know that we exist. People know about the WCC (Wiccan Church of Canada) and the meet and greets. Oh, I forgot; there is a new Asatru group this year advertising in Witches Voice. WV is how most people would look for a coven or network. We have one occult shop in the city. For some reason, others who try to start up other occult stores seem to go out of business. People talk about a curse. More likely, the reasons involve saturation of a specialized market.
I find that I don't have as much in common with the rest of the wiccan community as might be thought. There is a lot of difference between British Traditional Wicca (Alexandrian, Gardnerian, Seaxe) and the eclectics. They seem too 'New Agey' for my taste. There are some good craftspeople, but most seem to be closer to the fuzzy bunny stereotype than powerful and knowledgeable witches. I hang out with my covenmates and a few selected wiccan individuals. Also with my martial arts/qigong pals.

Don't worry. It'll only seem kinky the first time.

I have a newbie and I live 15 miles outside of London in the UK. I am quite lucky as I can be urban or rural here depending on which direction I leave my house.

I live in Coimbatore , a city in India .It's tough finding people with interest in occult here. The same goes for buying occult related books or tools.
Energy around here is calm. Internet is the only source of occult knowledge I have.

Depends where you are but the best bet is to come into London and visit Covent Garden area, Mysteries in Monmouth Street, Watkins in Cecil Court oof Charing Cross Road or go into the actual Covent Garden market itself and go downstairs, there is a little shop there, forgotten the name, but you will find it easily enough as it is in a little courtyard.

Mysteries is a good starting point if you only have a short time to shop especially with it being the closest to Oxford Street and therefore very central. Watkins is mainly a book store but they have got another shop almost next door now with magazines, crystals and readings.

If you want a great selection of crystals, try Wilde Ones, its on the western end of the Kings Road in Chelsea. They have a huge collection of jewellery there too, but it can be pricey. This is a recommendation of you can get there easily since it is not at the tube end.

Atlantis in Museum Street is small but holds great books and magazines but not much else. It IS firm favourite with occultists though and also close to Oxford Street.

If you don't know London too well and want to meet up and shop, PM me.

I am new here. My location is Surrey British Columbia. The energy levels here are high. Sometimes it is very confusing to what is really happening. We have great physic openness here. The occult has become almost retail here. Where everyone wants to have some sort of magick powers. To find the true believers and true practice is very hard. But the search is well worth the effort.

Untill everone else can live in my world then I guess I will have to put up with this one (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/harhar1.gif)

Hell,why not? lol!

I'm from Buffalo, New York. I wish I could give a more thourough and detailed view of the Occult scene in this city, and the surrounding areas, but for various reasons in the past, I've focused on, and preferred practicing as an individual, making occasional friends and aquaintences both online and off...but hell, I'll give it a shot from experience.

Buffalo, itself, in short, is a magickal city, even though it's a small one (about 300,000 people, not including the large suburbs, and surrounding cities, collectivley called Western New York). I suppose more to the point, it's a city with many magickal places in it. From our waterfront, to various Nature trails, to various genuinly haunted houses and locations, to the various magickal groups that have set up shop here.

The Golden Dawn is present (Sanctuary of Ma'at, via Aurora, a suburban town where a female Proctor facilitates. At least 3 years ago, lol! She was cool enough, nice, and thoughtful the few times we spoke by e-mail.)

The O.T.O. is present, right smack dab inside one of the most popular areas of the city. The body is called Pyramid Lodge and it is one of the more powerful lodges outside of California (Or at least it was. I went to the grand lodge website to check before posting, and I notice they no longer sit on the U.S. Grand Lodge's Government). Swell enough people. The High Priestess actually Profess's English Writing at my school (though, I really didn't notice anything magickal about her, even after the fact, well, except an interesting sexual energy). I celebrated the Feast of the 3 Days with them, again, about 3 years ago. The majority of members (and there were at least 30 or more) seemed to be of the Thelemic religious bent, EGC and all that. They hovered around the rather visible inner core of the group, whom I admit, are rather knowledgable and seemingly competent magicians. Great conversation. Learned alot.

Wiccans are here in droves, more or less, all over the damn place, both in the city, and the surrounding suburbs and Cities (Niagara Falls, Rochester, etc) (not that I mind it. It's just that I hate it when people act like there's only one way DO and LIVE magick). The Wiccan groups here are varied, ranging from the Silver Ravenwolf types to the Hellenic Reconstructionist. Some local pagan websites are:

http://www.paganwny.org/

http://www.wnyparanormal.org/e107/news.php

The local Occult store's are Strange Brew (in Kenmore, a suburb of Buffalo, also a Tattoo parlor), Inspiration Point (a wonderful small location, more New Age than Occult per se, but wonderful owner, Sandy. If you're in the area, definatly stop by), and Night of Pan Books (a bookstore run out of an O.T.O. member's home. Alot of great sh*t in there, and he'll make some good deals too.). There's also a store called Myth & Magick, though, I've never been there.

Hmm, as for night clubs, not Occult per se, but where you can find Occult minded folks gathering (of course, that could be anywhere, lol!), you can try the Opium Lounge and Club Diablo. The spot used to be The Continental, but it closed down last year due to code violations.

A general area to hang out in the city would be the Allentown District, or even the Elmwood District.

I should also mention that Vodoun is present, as well as Santeria and Brujeria on the city's lower West Side. HooDoo is also present on the city's East Side.

The 5% (Nation of God's and Earth's) are present on the city's East Side.

The local Native American faiths are present via the Six Nations.

The Church of Scientology is also present near the city's DownTown District (Big ass building. Only been there a year or two and already trying to weave thier tenticles into local politics. Ugh)

There are two books about the Western New York area. They are:

Shadows of the Western Door: Haunted Sites and Ancient Mysteries of Upstate New York by Mason Winfield

and

Haunted Places of Western New York: a Supernatural Tour Guide by Mason Winfield

And honorable mention goes to the Encyclopedia of Haunted Places: Ghostly Locales from around the World by Jeff Belanger for inclusing a casefile from the WNYparanormal group. (though I have not read it.)

As for energy (again), it depends upon where'd you go. The general tone of the mundane city (not the surrounding suburbs or cities) is one of, I'd say, general happiness to "depression", not clinical, lol, but not like NYC or Toronto, or even Rochester. Hmm, maybe it's 'cause I live here? lol! We always judge our locations (and ourselves) the hardest. All in all though, it is a wonderful place, a wonderful area, full of magick and magical areas, and I guess I knew more about it then I thought before I began writing this. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Keep in mind I did not cover Niagara Falls, Southern Ontario, Rochester, etc. (Basically all places within 30min-45min around the city), but they should be included too in the future. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

-F.F.

Edit: Perhaps I forgot to mention the New Age scene as compared to the Occult. There are droves of New Agey people too, some weird, other's quite nice, like anybody I suppose. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Edit2: I forgot to mention that www.occultforums.com (or what's left of it) is headquartered in Western New York (Hamburg to be exact, a suburb of Buffalo)

Hello, I've been on this forum quite a few times but only just registered, I'm from Leicestershire in the UK, and was wondering if there was anyone from the Midlands who is interested in or practices Solomonic magick or other sorts of ceremonial magick? If so send me a message because I am very interested in high magick and would love to chat and possibly meet anyone also interested in it.

Hi

I'm in Belfast, Ireland. The energy in this town is very negative and brittle, especially in the summer, but it's not far from the Glens of Antrim where the energy is much more fluid and easy to work with.
