It really depends on the individual and time invested to really can estimate the time needed to complete Bardon's training in Initiation into Hermetics.

However, I'm curious to know what is your estimate if an average person invested an average of 5 hours a week or an hour/day from monday-friday for the Bardon's system?

If we are talking about finishing the book, then several years at least, but I cannot see that there is any definite end to our magickal development.

yes, its always about walking the path, not completing it.

Any book can be learned by the brain in a year or two, if you spend some time on it you can study it completely. And at the same time you will still be a magickal beginner, you will have made no real progress and understand only logically the techniques. You will have no clue how to actually perform then.
The only thing you would have gained is book knowledge.

Understanding the logics and the theories behind a magickal techniques is just scratching the surface. It must be felt and understood in your whole being. And the level of that type of understanding can grow infinitely. The mind is quick to understand logic, but the soul keeps on understanding more of the truth forever.
Thus the path stretches on forever.

The "learning it" isn't as hard as the "effectively practicing it". The stuff in IIH is a process of evolution in its own (just the mental exercises alone) and as such, takes time for the brain to adjust to it.

I am confused about the attitude that the path never ends. Everything ends. You think Buddha is still on the path? Mahavir? Ramakrishna? This path is supposed to lead to Samadhi and the cessation of all pain/pleasuer and desire. Or am I thinking of the Kiwanis Club?

well the learning is not exactly like going round a circle. its more spiral like of thing.. you think having completed one round and thats over but in fact there still will be a gap and as in a spiral, another round is formed.... I am of the opinion that theres much more that just path to samadhi is the ultimate destination.... well thats my opinion.

There was a poll a few years ago on the (now defunct) BardonPraxis yahoo group, the results of which are here:

It takes 2 years max.
When your concentration is strong enough after part 3, rest is easy.
