I was wondering something, have always wondered it in fact--just got reminded just now. Is Varloorni (in the conjuration of Bandar it is said) really in fact R'lyeh of the Cthulu Mythos?

Just wondering--because I think so! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/play_ball.gif)

Greetings Eabatu,

Varlooni being a term for hell its viels should be the fire. Of course it could fit into the mythos as well.

Peace

Hi,
I dont know... To me the incantation of
QUOTE
By the Veils of sunker Varloorni,
and by the Lights of Shamash

sounds a lot more like 'by the veils of night, by the lights of Shamash'. (veils of night is used in other incantations that I've read)

To me it would make sense since the Bandar invocation is ussually done at night, so having a phrase for only the lights of Shamash (daylight) would not make much sense unless the night is referenced somehow as well.

My two cents, (pure speculation)

Traveller.

Greetings 'Traveller',

I believe U could be right. At is rather ambiguous/ . Certainly this could be interpreted as viels of darkness. Or it could also mean the fire that engulfs the underworld.

Peace

Here is where in the text it says Varloorni is R'lyeh I feel--in the Testimony of the Mad Arab Part 1:

But now, after One Thousand-and-One moons of the journey, the Maskim nip at my
heels, the Rabishu pull at my hair, Lammashta opens her dread jaws, AZAG-THOTH
gloats blindly at his throne, [u]KUTULU raises his head and stares up through the Veils of
sunkun Varloorni, up through the Abyss, and fixes his stare upon me

Check it out, it is there in the text for all to see.

Greetings brother Eabatu,

Lets now compare to the Watcher conjuration pg 72.

I conjure thee by the fire of Girra

The veils of sunken Varlooni

and by the lights of Shammash

It really seems to be saying that the viels of varlooni is fire to me. Eabatus post seems to give more weight to this as well.
