Samhain/halloween, Huh...WHICH ONE : ( Options

So, all the Witches I know call it Samhain...but my coven and my family call it Haloween...I can usderstand misconceptions from my family, but my coven founder is from a really old coven called the New Forest Coven, or some such...

So anyway, what I am asking is which one is the proper term, wnd why is it called differing things.

P.S. My Mum calls it Souvenir...which is french for "To Remember"

Samhain was the proper "Celtic" name, the "original" name, which turned to Hollow's Eve, and thus evolved into Halloween...
