Sometime ago I found a medallion in my yard and I am trying to find some information about it!!! If someone could help I would greatly appreciate it!!! I found a picture of it in the Sacred Magick website at the URL below but have been unable to get any information about what it is or represents. There are five talismans at the top of the webpage that the address below points too. It is the picture on the bottom left hand corner.

Sacred Magick

Thank You for your time and info!!!!!

Okay, first off its not a good idea to just pick up random talismans that you don't know what they are. But it doesn't look like anything harmful as long as you are a good boy. It looks like a home made (intricate and highly detailed) shield or protective seal of some kind. Not an expert on sigils, but this one seems harmless, if I'm looking at the right one, embed much?
Any way ^^ you should be fine. But yeah I'm not an expert.

It's shown under talismans but is in reality a bowl shaped divination tool used, I want to say, by the greeks originally, called the "Pergamum Bowl," also associated with the gnostic tradition. There's some confusion as to whether it was actually created by the greeks or the coptics or some other group of people who just drew on those traditions, but both greek and coptic letters are represented there. The outer rings, three rings of eight sections, making 24 outer sections, is pretty typical of that general time period and some time before - three sets of eight letters considered representative of some particular 'peice' of a trinary paradigm, like the three Aets of the runes. The eight inner parts I believe represent planetary powers, but those are typically seven in number so I can't remember if that information is correct or not.

In any case, having the name of the symbol should make it easier to research in full.

edit: p.s. Typically just having any kind of talisman in your possession won't do much harm, if any, unless it was given to you by someone who intended it to work in your life on some level - like, a talisman to do you harm that was slipped into your bag. Just finding an image of a talisman online, in the vast majority of cases is no big deal.

The world is complicated - that which makes it up is elegantly simplistic, but infinitely versatile.
