Hi All!
Just wondering, I've been looking in the forums for quite a bit now and can't seem to find any reference to it - I've seen some strange text in the Simon Necronomicon - some kind of runes - and was wondering if anyone could tell me about them and perhaps what they mean? Sorry if it has ben covered before!
The text can be found in my copy of the Nec on p183 - at the start of the URILLA text, and at the bottom of p211 in the middle of the Testimony of the Mad Arab part II

Thanks all!
Peace

Greetings,

I agree no one knows what this is. However it has always reminded me of planetary symbols somewhat on pg 183.

183 top left to right. Pluto, Venus, Saturn, Mars, Pluto, Jupiter

Next line ? Mercury, Pluto, ?

Next line ? ? Mars, ? ? Jupiter.

Lets stop and make a note that the Sumerian's, Babylonians and Chaldean's had no idea that Pluto existed.

So if this does represent the planetary symbols that part of the book had to be written after the discovery of Pluto. Even if pg 183 does not contain any planetary symbols I am gonna still say it looks very very European.

The section of runic writing on pg 211 I again have no idea what it means. This comes right after a warning about the Bandar. We notice the elder sign is in this runic writing. Then the next thing said is forgetting the elder sign will cause you much grief. We were warned a couple of times earlier in the Book to never use the Bandars symbol without Either the agga or the arra.

And here is the Agga <Elder SIgn> in this runic section just after another warning about the Bandar and before another reminder about the power of the Agga for saftey.

I am gonna take an educated guess that this runic writing symbolizes something about the Bandar. The Mad Arab tells us his Bandar acts sick and is not obeying his commands.

<Because the mad arab sought power over the elder gods and they abandoned him.> So I can imagine that this is some sort of written spell by him in connection to the Bandar. Of course in order to imagine the Mad Arab writing this we also have to pretend that he was using this strange European like runic alphabet. <HIghly unlikely in my eyes.>

I am not saying that the Necronomicon is fraudulent. What I am saying is like all Grimores it has some inconsistencies. Doubtless the Greek version had to be translated from Arabic. Doubtless something had to be lost in translation. Or perhaps even added in.

I do not think that there can be a Gand Poo Bah of Necronomicon as I have stated in other threads. However over the years looking at these symbols this is how I perceive it. And thats my line of bull $hit as Nebo82 says.

Peace

Hi Guys!
Thanks for your input there!
As I said, I couldn't find any other posts about this, and I was assuming it was some part of the text that either they couldn't translate and therefore put it in as is, or they just put it in there to add some "colour' to the text and make it look more mystical! hehehe...

Edunpanna - Thanks very much for your explanation and input! I respect your ideas as you seem to have studied and performed magick from the Nec quite successfully! Something which I am keen to get into! The Nec has been calling me for quite some time!

Seems to me, if Edunpanna is right, and it extrapolates on the surrounding text ( as seems logical to me), then the Mad Arab must've done something pretty bad to get the gods to fosake him and for his Bandar to get sick and unresponsive?! Ouch! I guess thats why he's got that prayer in there to try and placate any unknown gods/godesses to forgive him!

Cheers!

The Mad Arab tried to control and supercede the Celestial Gods/Goddess --hence his predicament. Theres a warning in this--dont get too proud--you will be burned. Thats the warning I take from it. And in reference to the the runes/sigils/seals on pg 183---as Edunpanna said about Pluto, and I see Saturn--so death seems to be the theme of that pictorial spell of some sort (in my Grand Poobar opinion--LOL) --considering its the pre-face to the Urilia text whichhappens to deal w/ destructive magick--it may be runic type of protective spell upon the Urilia text itself adn limits its influence. Just an idea---no evidence to back this claim up at all!

(Grand poobar signs out!)

To sum it up--I dont know what the hell those runes all really mean for definite

Eabatu:
Thanks for that! I was also thinking that was the mistake of the Mad Arab too! I think he even alludes to it, if not outright says it!
There is defintely a lesson there to be learnt! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

Thanks guys for the input!

I hope to get started soon on some evocations and call my watcher - see how I go! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)
I also got some people I need to bind and make them see the errors of their ways and be nicer to people...
any good ways of doing that in the Nec? or will just the general bindings work, or should i try to make up a specific spell?

Cheers!
