A Flash? Options

Hey guys (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) It's been a while since i've been on here and it's good to be back (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Well I should have posted this earlier & i'm not sure if this goes here but anyways:

I was sitting at my computer just answering emails etc and all of a sudden I heard a popping noise like popcorn popping but only once. It could have been from people downstairs making noise so I just dismissed it. A few seconds later I saw a flash behind me, like a camera flash. I saw it because it was about half as wide as my room in width but in length it was thin. Anyway well I didn't bother me to much so I just let it be. (I've gotten used to paranormal things alot more now) A few minutes later I was shaking like I was exausted and kinda dizzy. It was like the energy got zapped outta me. I left the room because whatever that was it was draining my energy. So i came back a while later and it was gone. Anybody ever heard of anything like this? Also there was nobody in the room besides me and this was at night, thats why I saw it clearly.

I´ve had this thig too. A few times I´ve had a flash of light like a camera flash, followed by energy drains or even bites on me. From what I remember, a flash like that is generally a sign that something is trying to manifest.

For me I found that shutting down my energy centres coupled with banishing rituals made the problem go away after a few days.

Well let’s put some “could bes” together.

Popping: could be an astral bell as described by Dion Fortune. It indicates an entity that has not been able to properly come through and trying to grab your attention.

Flashing: same thing here as also mentioned by nyechna. Also, in some descriptions of astral projection, which I have experienced, just before you are about to leave your body you see an intense flash. It tends to bring you into a stark awareness. However, this particular flash that you describe could be the entity trying to break through.

Energy drainage: possibly due to the entity trying to feed on some energy in order to better manifest and closest source would have been you.

I think Nyechna is probably right on here.
Being a Necronomicon Priest, I've called up a Bandar (gaurdian, companion spirit, basically), and when 'he' manifests it seems like the shadows in the room thicken and often times a
'click' 'click' can be heard. Almost like the sound of the pendulum on a grandfather clock swinging back and forth. So with those experiences, I think it's highly possible that a spirit did or was trying to, manifest. I think that may be where the energy drain came from.
If that entity was trying to manifest and couldn't, it may have tapped you for power to do so. Although I'd be reluctant to say it was a malicious as I took from your post that it only happened once. Seems that an entity wishing to drain from you would probably do so repeatedly.
But anyway, go for the banishings and try to pick up on the signs that it's about to happen so you block the energy centers.

I am not familiar with Fortune, but I have had experiences of this after operations during periods of heavy Sparean work. Very interesting. Perhaps I should see what she has to say on the subject.

Edit: I should add that this was genuine "bell" noises. Very clear and high with a long decay. It quite freaked me the first time it happened!

Given that it wasn't a ball of electricty discharged from a socket or burnt out light bulb (both can produce popping noises), its sounds like it was some kind of astral parasite. As you get more and more advanced in magick you'll realize that lesser entities are drawn to you and they'll try to feed off your heightened level of energy. I'd cleanse your property and make wards to protect yourself and if those don't work then do a banishing ritual.
