Nice review. Thanks
I have this book, and use it with my own tarot work (which is almost exclusively Thoth now).
I still found quite a bit if the thelemic specific stuff confusing (like the trump switching), but agree that Lon's treatment is very readable.
Guess I should eventaully read A.C.'s own book, lol.

Of all of AC's books, the Book of Thoth is the easiest read. Almost as if it was a different AC. In many ways it was, since, I believe (I'm no expert on Crowley history) this was probably the last book he wrote? The book wasn't published until after he passed away (I do know the deck wasn't published until well after both Crowley and Lady Harris passed). Interesting, because there are obvious discrepancies in the images he describes (which Lon explains in HIS book). AC wrote the book with earlier renderings of some of the cards (Lady Harris almost always had to render 8-10 versions before it was just right!), and it's fun to read with that in mind. But it's a serious treatment, certainly the most important book on Thoth Tarot, yet very easy to read even casually. Crowley was actually a gifted writer and poet.
I highly recommend it!
Best,
