Simply put has anyone here built or know if there has been built a temple for the ancient sumerian Gods/Goddesses? I'm not talking about a portable one. More like a building. It could be very intriguing. Think non-profit status, sacred prostitution, etc.

Greetings 'gmcbroom,

As soon as I win the Mega Million and win 60 million dollars you can believe that there will be a Temple of Enki on 40th street in Manhattan NY.

Peace!

I'd be there the day it opened! I've been longing for something like this for years (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Now I'm thinking if one were to be built. How would you design it? I like the Ziggurat idea but it'll have to have a modern twist. For even though they are ancient Gods/Goddesses, I'm a modern man and like my creature comforts to much. Would it have a rectory like some churches so that the priests/priestesses could live there and practice there devotions? I think that would be ideal. Obviously they wouldn't be wealthy, but thats what fund raisers and the non profit status can help with. Perhaps even have a chamber set aside for some rites that would NOT be open to the public. What do you think? I realize its a little OT but I think it has enough to do with the post to keep going.

I think a building with at least 4 floors on 40th street in Manhattan.

NYC is of course where the Necronomicon came to life so its a fitting place.

1st floor gift shop.

2cnd floor a place for worship and Mandal with full Nec set up. This area open to the public.

3rd floor same as the 2cnd so rites could be performed at the same time. This floor only open to members of The Order.

4th floor. My office. So I can roll blunts and chill while I am trying to figure out how to invest that 60 million dollars. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

Peace

Edunpannas idea is nice one--but I think a temple of ENKI would be best by the sea. If I win the mega millions (which would be quite ideal!!!!!!) I would build a home on a high cliff with a cave to the sea below it. Set up one temple on the top floor observatory tower and another below in the cave by the sea. A terrace is a must for rituals as well. As far as the public--very limited access VERY! I dont like the common folk inside the temple ruining its atmosphere w/ their misguided auras and energies. And the ubservatory ritual room will have a retractable roof so one can have the experience of the outside as well. Naturally the public/visitor area will have a bar, pool table, stripper pole--LOL......ok, big screen TVs and so on and so forth--oh ya--and a stage for any sort of performances--likely metal bands--LOL!! Snd the property will be gated on all sides---I dont want any nonsense wandering into the temple.....I guess Im a private person.

Because I grew up in an austere denomination, I am used to plain, simple designs. I would like a nice, discreet temple, open only to members and sponsored prospects. There would be a sanctuary with pews, with a plain altar and lecturn on a raised stage at the front for the high priest and priestess to lead group worship. There would be paintings of the Gods and Goddeses around the sanctuary, and a leather-bound Necronomicon would reside in a recessed chamber above the altar. There would also be a rooftop area for sacrificial burnings, a set of rooms in the back for the Ishtaritu priestesses, and offices and living quarters for the high priest and priestess.

I envision a modern building, with exterior design suggestive of a ziggurat. It would be not only gated but also guarded by an armed sentry to keep troublemakers out (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

I'd love it if Simon would respond as he is the one who brought this all to life. How would he make a Necronomicom temple? Ashnook what about you too?
