Hi i just want to know what do you call the magic circles that were used in the movie "the skeleton key"? The one like kate hudson wrote on the floor for supreme protection? Is that kind of magic really exist? I mean by the use of circles and symbols? If yes in which practice does it belong? Is it possible to construct my own circles? Thank you all.

I don't know The Skeleton Key. But, if it was a Hollywood movie . . . then, No. That kind of magick doesn't exist.

Yes, inpart . . . that can be part of "real" magick.

Yes. But there probably is more to it then just that.

Read around on the forum. You'll probably find more then enough information to answer these questions and bring about quite a few more.
And please ask them . . . I'm sure we'd be glad to help with finding answers (or at least help finding more questions (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) )
That would probably be your best bet.

No idea on the movie (rarely watch movies, sorry!). But, the circle (rather, the sphere) is one of the most sacred shapes (shape of earth, the Universe, life itself). You dont' need mystical symbols or salt or anything else to create a sacred space. But if you have trouble visualizing, it can help to create a "physical" circle. Some paths require more elaborate circles. I work empty hand, so everything's visualized.

One quick way to create a physical circle -- remember it's just a psychological trigger that lets your subconscious know the bounderies, the true circle is still in the astral -- is to use Tarot Trumps, just the twelve associated with the Zodiac -- Justice WEST Hermit and Strength heading south from west, CHARIOT in the south, Lovers, then Hierophant heading EAST from south, EMPEROR in EAST, Moon, Star heading north from east, DEVIL in north, Temperance Death heading West from North. Of course I'd alter this with Thoth cards (more archetypes and power symbols), but this is just a quick snapshot with RW cards.

By laying them around you in a circle, you created boundaries with cards that contain all the archetypal power symbols you might need to empower a basic circle (if your subconscious needs the reinforcement). But, truly, the important thing is to KNOW it is built around you. Remember, it's three dimensional, more like an EGG or sphere... the circle on the floor just marks where the sphere intersects the floor (and symbolic of the borders between the physical plane and the other ten planes of manifestation.)

Greetings,

Here are some pic. I thre in the triangle also.

You can make your own of course. Flour with a cone shape like an oil filter has worked easy for me. Chalk on concrete is easy too. Sledge hammer a stake of wood in the ground. Tap a little nail on the top. Tie a string. Measure the sting 4 and a half feet so you make a 9 ft circle. Walk around the stake in a circle and dig a sword or knife especially for this purpose into the ground. Then go along that line with a funnel and flour.

I saw that movie and it was cool. If anything it was a Hodoo circle. Not ceremonial.

Peace
