Hello All, I was just curious, a few of you have shared that its advantageous to make ones own copy of the Necronomicom in order help open ones' self up to that current and its Gods/Goddesses. I agree whole heartedly. However, I have a question. Since the Urilla text is considered a trap since it deals with the Old Ones. Did those of you that made a copy include it as well?
I think that when I do make my copy I'll probably leave that section out and include my own musings in its place. Any thoughts?

I plan on including it in mine. I figure it's there for a reason, if only as a warning. I'm also very anal about things being complete.
I would also think that after you copy what's in the Simon book, you'll be adding what you find, what rituals and such work for you, knowledge you've found gatewalking, etc after that. Truly making it "your Nec".

To these I turn, in these I trust;
Brother Lead and Sister Steel.
To his blind power I make appeal;
I guard her beauty clean from rust.

He spins and burns and loves the air,
And splits a skull to win my praise;
But up the nobly marching days
She glitters naked, cold and fair.

Sweet Sister, grant your soldier this;
That in good fury he may feel
The body where he sets his heel
Quail from your downward darting kiss.

I am currently working on my hand written copy, though when I get to that section I will include it. It serves various purposes, one being to have the signs and names ready when you are engaged in some sort of combat against the Ancient Ones. There are also a few spirits there, that while evil and destructive, are not Ancient Ones.

That's some really nice work smasher, looks like you put a lot of effort in it.
Where did you get the blank book, and is it good quality of acid-free paper (i.e. it will last?)?

No kidding! Very nice! I was wondering the same thing about the blank book. Where did you find it?

Greetings Frater Ses Agazi Ganbar,

Azure Green is exactly where I got my blank books. I got two 6 x 9 for the Necronomicon and Necronomicon Spellbooks. Also a 9 x 12 for other purposes. I think it took about 5 months for me to write the Spellbook and Necronomicon by hand but I only wrote in the books while underground in the subway as I was commuting about NYC. That is a rate of only writing 3 or 4 pages a day. I suppose it could be written alot quicker if done at home. The pages are non acid I believe.

Peace!

A lot of book stores sell them if you have one in your area.

As part of my recent return to the necronomicon in order to fulfill the remainder of my obligation, I have begun anew to copy it down by hand into a personalized book.

I recognized, as I did before, that while I can write twenty or thirty pages by hand when i'm writing in a journal, or writing an essay, I can only seem to copy ten or fifteen pages at a time when i'm copying from this book. After that I'm mentally exhausted, and need to take a break for the day.

Has anyone else had this experience? Originally I didn't think too much of it, but now that it's happening again this time around, it made me wonder. I would imagine it's a testament to the power in the process itself. In fact, my hands tend to get hot and even vibrate at times. It's peculiar, I've copied other grimoires before without the same effects.

Also, I was curious about the order the others here copy the books in? Is it generally necessary to stick to the order presented in the book itself? In an effort to make the entire book a talisman, I have begun with the exorcisms from the Maklu text. I may likely end with them as well, or at least one of them, so that the exorcisms sandwich the book itself. Then the invocation of the fire god, the book of the watcher, and the rest I have not yet determined. I usually read the book through in brief before copying the next section, to give it a chance to show me the next one to copy. Does anyone else rearrange the books like this? Also, I generally plan to leave out the testimony of the mad arab, save for notations in the places where he describes one thing or another. I don't intend to copy his words bit for bit, though, like the other books.

Also, I adorned the front of the journal with the composite Arra, Agga, Bandar sigil, and the back with five of the fifty names in an interlocking manner - Marduk in the center, Agaku, Marukka, Marutukku, and Aranunna around it, left, above, below, and right, respectively. Does anyone else do something similar as well?

It seems to me that the book should be a talisman, and originally when I began copying again, it came to me that I should arrange it so that it is symbolic in it's order, to become a more personalized talisman, with a particularly focused intent.

I haven't gotten any sense that it could be a bad idea, but none the less wondered if anyone else had an opinion...

peace

Greetings,

I copied it exactly as the order is word for word. I wrote the entire thing while traveling back and forth on the Subway usually from Queens to Brooklyn and back, This served a dual purpose. I was not bored and I was in a situation where I was inclined to write. Getting a corner seat with your writing elbow aimed away from the wall is key to being able to draw and write well on the subway.

I liked the fact that i was writing the Necronomicon underground in a tunnel / cave. As the train was bumpy I began with an eraser mate pen. Later in the book I started using a very nice ink pen with white out to cover up my many screw ups.

If you are cranking out 15 pages a day that is really good. I was perhaps only getting 6 to 8.

Peace!

I copied the book between 7th and 8th grade, over a period of several months. I realize that the book instructs you to do this, but I only wanted a subject for calligraphy at the time, and was also doing the Book of Revelation in colored inks and enamels. I've always enjoyed making books.

My Necronomicon from this time is more or less identical to the Avon paperback in its arrangement, done on 10"x14" faux-parchment paper in black-letter calligraphy. The chapter capitals and the sigils are identical to the Avon book. It is bound in fake crocodile skin using cardboard plates and spine and bookbinder's glue.

The Hay edition text was done in a similar way some years later but with red and black inks, and I have not yet attached a cover. My Book of Lies, the most recent book copied, was done in a giant 18" by 24" hardcover with a gold Choronzon (crowley's drawing) on the front and illustrations on each page in red and black inks. My Key of Solomon and Lemegeton are similarly done, as are my own works on magic, copies of which are stuffed into remote locations alondside various treasures of precious metals and gems. Happy hunting!

I have yet to make my own hand copied version--but I am inclined to copy the main information and infuse my own bits in there as well. For I will make it my grimoire. Thats how I feel it is meant to be copied. It for each of us to take up the role of Mad Arab. I am also thinking to add any of my own rituals and spells into the mix as well other things I always felt was missing from the Necronomicon. And as for cover--likely my own seal, my bandar seal and ENKI seal. The title will also not be the Necronomicon as well. The idea thrown out about putting the Exorcisms at teh start and finish of the book isnt a bad idea. Maybe Mashu to lead things off--to keep the riff-raff under control.
