"the Secret", Have I REALLY summoned a djinn? Options

I recently read "The Secret."

The book encourages the reader to think of The Law of Attraction as some great "Genie of the Universe." For purposes of command and control, I have done exactly that.

I grew up a Fundamentalist Christian. As a child, I was taught not to "consort" with "spirits" because anything that was not God, Jesus, or his angels was "evil" or "demonic."

I'm of two minds on the issue. On the one hand, I enjoy working with my "genie"/The LOA (It's thrilling to have a supernatural being at my command.) OTOH, I can't help but worry that I'm inadvertently opening a gateway for darker entities to come through.



Have I REALLY summoned a spirit? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused012.gif) I always thought that summoning an actual djinn involved a great deal of complex ritual.

On another site one member mentioned that he had bought half a dozen Jinn on E-Bay. We sorta made fun of him over that. I think we hurt his feelings :-(

The "secret" is certainly nothing new in itself. It isn't especially esoteric or guarded throughout history either, whether by secret societies or otherwise. What is NEW is the mass-marketing of this philosophy on such an enormous scale. The ad campaign (the book and movie) is aimed toward even the lowest level of intelligence, presented in such a way as to snag those with a penchant for fantasy without offending most religious types, and is presented as an alternative to winning the lottery and other dreams of the hopeessly impoverished. It is a NEW thing to see a self-help doctrine presented in this way, devoid of foreign-ism, theology, or absurd crank science, the likes of which grace nearly every text of a similar vein from the last 40 years.

As for Djinn and Genies, I suggest reading the Koran Sura 72 (Al-Djinn), the Arabian Nights stories, and other items of interest from the time and culture that spawned the concept.

The nearest occult equivalent to the 'personal genie" described in The Secret is the popular concept of the Holy Guardian Angel. In most schools of thought, this HGA is a potential self yearning to be "born" which both inspires and supports your work. Essentially it is an idealized self-concept that appears to exert positive influence toward your attempts at achieving whatever grace and glory it represents.

Dealing with Djinn CAN be dangerous. Unless you are absolutely sure.
In one sense, Djinn are like humans, in that they have free will in choosing
their spirituality. So there ARE muslim, jewish, christian, Hindu, Buddhist,
pagan etc etc Djinn.

I was in a holy roller pentacostal church for ten years, it didnt get more
legalistic and fundamental as that church was LOL. So I understand where
you are coming from. The people in your church would definitely NOT
understand, and I wouldnt be telling folks about it. I was accused of
witchcraft cuz some fellow church members found out I burned
incense!!!!
