Introducing Barnard, Personal Introduction Options

My name is Barnard. I'm a little slow as my mother drank when she was pregnant, though I'm actually a smart guy in some respects. One of my goals in magick is to enhance my own mind to reach a high level of intelligence and memory capacity. But I don't think solely about myself. I'm always thinking about harnessing the power of magic to better the world, to seperate corruption and establish balance, always trying to figure out how to awaken my own amazing power.

You see, I've done magic a long time ago as a child, but it was not premeditiated. It was a result of pure terror to protect myself from attackers by use of abnormal strength and speed. That same power to move like lightning and stop anything that will come at me will be particularlly useful now that I'm in the army and will be deploying in the next 8 months. But I have lost the capacity of fear and anger so it probably won't happen next time, unless I activate my power. Sometimes I can sense my own power and it is tremendous!

Hello, Barnard! I'm Fastjack and I'm kind of new here myself. You should not be so self deprecative. From your post you hardly seem slow or unintelligent. In fact, I would say you are a very intelligent person because you seem to be engaged in a lot of self-reflection and self-analysis with the desire for self-improvement. Only intelligent people do this; unintelligent people simply exist without having any real thoughts or desires. Plus, you have chosen to be a soldier, a very noble occupation. In fact, I believe that being a soldier kind of makes you a "chosen one" of Lord NERGAL,who is the God of War and the fortunes of War. (You can read more about this in the Necronomicon if you chose to.) As you will be deploying soon, you will probably be going to Iraq, will you not? This is interesting because you will be going to a land where Lord NERGAL was originally worshipped thousands of years ago. I salute you! And, I pray that you will take this as an opportunity to become acquainted with all the Elder Gods who left their feet prints upon the sands of the country in which you will be deployed. If you don't currently have a copy of the Necronomicon, get one and carry it with you when you leave on deployment. Good luck, and may Lord NERGAL be with you in battle.

Thank you, but what you describe as lacking intelligence sounds more like lacking motivation. Even those with the most efficiently operating minds can be chocked up as idiots if they chose not to apply what they have, as those with slow minds who are determined and discliplined can create the illusion of being geniuses.

I can be best described as that guy in the movie Memento, who gradually loses his memories, but he is sharp as a knife at solving the numerous puzzles of his situation. To keep track of everything, he writes everything down. I'm not as bad as that, but in a similar boat. Additionally, my mind doesn't always process spoken information accurately. You'll never notice it from me on the board because everything is in text.

I will be going to Aphganistan. We have 6 month deployment rotations.
