Hi,

Does anybody have any recommendation on books regarding awaking kundalini. I'm am thinking about ordering The Kundalini Workbook, by Jonn Mumford. It is in a workbook format, and from what I've read of it (previews) it looks very detailed in it's step-by-step layout. Does anybody have this book or have read it?

I know next to nothing regarding kundalini/layla yoga, so any advice would help.

Thanks

I've worked through Mr. Mumford's book from start to finish. It is not the 'quick path' that he says it is, but working on it will develop your psychic potential significantly, as well as self-discipline and willpower. It will also awaken a great deal of 'food for thought' type experiences that I feel would be beneficial for anyone looking to develop their energy body. The exercises must be taken seriously and practiced conscientiously. I would definitely invest in it, and if you have any questions I'd be happy to share my own experience and thoughts on the process.

You should know in advance that there is no quick way to awaken kundalini, except perhaps to have a spiritual master eliminate all of the karma keeping it dormant. However, short of that, only time, patience, and dedicated practice of the principles that will lead to awakening will ever actually lead to a true awakening, though you may have stirrings perhaps even shortly after the intention to awaken has been engaged. Stirrings can happen once a year for many years, and increase with regularity over a long period of time though, so once it happens, it would be unwise to assume that you are already 'awakened' at that point. When it happens, there will be no room for doubt, and if you can possible think that you might not have experienced it, then you haven't.

Other than that - be careful. Serious stuff you're looking into, no one is prepared for awakening, it is a characteristically traumatic process. Just keep that in mind and ride the tide.

peace

Mumfords book is good. But it won't lead to any awakening of kundalini straight away. Kundalini is meant to be awakened and raised in the presence of a Master. Most people who think they have 'awakened' kundalini are just kidding themselves, they have only felt pranic jolts up the spine at best often. The basic 'test' for if kundalini is awakened and rising is the development of siddhis, no siddhis, no kundalini. Of course that is only for one's own knowledge of whether kundalini is awakened not others. However, finding such a Master is not easy in this world, but you can do preliminary training such as that provided by Mumford, you also might look into Sivananda's books, particularly Kundalini Yoga. If you are ready, I would have no doubt that some Master would come along and lead the way in that perhaps, most beneficial spiritual path developed on our planet.

"Kundalini: the Evolutionary Energy in Man" by Gopi Krishna. Krishna awakened his kundalini inadvertantly and thus incorrectly after many years of meditation. The book details his ordeal, physical mental emotional, as well as the benefits of his awakening after his eventual recovery from the initial shock of activating the serpent fire.

I want to add that work with magic or energy of any kind will eventually release Kundalini in a natural way. Its a much better experience if you also practice soul mirroring or introspection - Otherwise you'll go insane. Well, not everyone is that unstable I suppose - but I do think it to be good advice. Ah oka, learn to keep your energy in a sort of balance too. Will be much more useful in the long run than getting stuck in an unbalanced state and never learning to correct yourself. Kundalini isn't the end all is all thing and its not the end. So while its an awesome mark in your progress - keep trucking the experience never ends if your willing to keep going

I noticed that for me when i started working with chakras, the practice of kundalini came naturally, once i had done work on each chakra individually. I used an admitedly simple little book called Chakras for Begininers, by a man named David Pond. I liked it because it broke down the book into talking about balancing your life on each chakra level. After working with each chakra and thinking about possible imbalances, my energy flows noticeablly smoother and stronger.

Peace and Light,

Velarius
