I'm pretty sure I know the answer to this, but I wanted to open it up to other interpretations.

Two nights ago I was sleeping at my girlfriend's place. I had a pretty restless sleep (felt like I was awake all night).
Just before I drifted off after waking up for the tenth time I distinctly heard someone shout the word "out". Now what was strange about this was that I didn't hear it with my ears, I heard it in my head as If I was thinking to myself, but it was a different voice to my own.

The voice was a man's voice of about middle to late twenties maybe earlier thirties and was very clear and powerful sounding (demanding me to get out?) however, I didn't sense any sort of anger from the voice, it sounded powerful and demanding as I just mentioned, but I didn't fear it. Of course I got a bit of a shock hearing someone else's voice in my head.

So at first I thought my studies are getting to me and I'm going insane but I then though about my training in CM.
The last few days I have done the LBRP every day. Before this week I found it hard to find the time to do a ritual at least once a week. So I thought that the increase in magical practice has increased my awareness to the spiritual environment and I have telepathically picked up on some spirit's vibe who has apparently been telling me to get out from some place (girlfriend's house?) and I have only started to tune into it.

It didn't happen last night at my place so I'm guessing the spirit is based at her place or just visited me.
I don't know of anyone passing away at my girlfriend's house (her family has lived there for about 12 years) and nothing strange has ever happened to her place which could suggest a haunting, so I'm baffled as to why I heard this voice.

Of course I could just be going insane (IMG:style_emoticons/default/insane.gif)

I decided to post this to share my story and to get some opinions. So what do you guys think?

It doesn't necessarily have to be someone who died "There" but someone or something attached to her. It's probably been trying to tell you to "out" for like the entirety of your relationship with her and it finally has the opportunity due to your increase in mystical activities. Or I could be completely off base and WRONG! But I do suggest you do some sort of divination before you just jump in there with your guns a swingin.

When I read it, I immediately went for jealousy, but there are other possibilities.

Assuming it is a practiced or magickally aware person you get the wonderful world of hundreds of possibilities. Some of them are.

1. Consciously wants you out. (reasons range from wanting her, to not approving of you, to not liking your influence)
2. Subconsciously wants you out. (through no directed thought someone wanted you out, for any number of reasons…)
3. Involved third party. (someone not in the mix with her or you, does not like you being with her.)
4. Jealous female. (someone interested in you, is trying to get you to not feel that totally relaxed and warm feeling of sleeping with someone you care about)
5. Wrong place, right time. (someone needed to get a message for you to be somewhere, and you heard it, but put the wrong context to it)

This can go on and on. Divination would be good, but it can also show you what you want, depending on the type.

Qualities of voice are odd your picking up age is not always clear, specially when someone uses a loud and commanding voice, try to think more on it, also in the spirit realm anyone can be any age they wish.

Do you know what your voice sounds like when in a commanding situation?
Mine drops an octave and gets a tad raspy, so if you do not know it, you would not recognize it. I know mine because of sports and other situations where I am in charge and there is a lot of noise…I only remember hearing it once in my head, so that would shock me.

Thanks for the feedback guys.

@Paradox

You might be onto something. A guy she knew (he had a girlfriend) and was our age hung himself probably about a month or two ago. I remember on several occasions that my girlfriend heard from her friends who knew him that he thought she looked alright. Maybe it's him? He did have a girlfriend though so I don't know.

@paxx

I'm almost certain it wasn't my voice. The more I think about the voice the details get foggy so the whole age thing could be off completely. When I yell In a commanding situation my voice gets a bit lower and I feel my vocal chords struggling. This voice was more like a deep, sharp "out" and reminded me of a fat, bald guy standing up and shaking his fist in the middle of a board meeting (IMG:style_emoticons/default/13.gif) . The voice sounded like it came from the diaphragm not like what I would do. My yells/shouts come from my upper chest throat area.

The more I think about it though what your saying could be the truth. It could have been my voice. Is it possible that it could be disguised?

Commanding voice will always come from the diaphragm. If not it gets that breaking quality (where it sounds like you are faking it, or you have fear).

However, the concepts of dealing with your high self gets weird, I am just starting to deal with that right now…part of this adventure I started myself on.
I had an encounter with something I was not pleased with at the time, and realized for all intents he was probably me. Kind of freaky really. Not sure if a future version or a way older version, I am not too big on the past life thing. I do believe in reincarnation, but in a more abstract way then full re-embodiment. The other thing that pissed me off about it was what he was telling me was probably true.

Back to you, if you are having any thoughts of leaving this girlfriend. Do Not Sleep With Her!!! I mean sex when I say that. I have at least 5 friends who got the women they where thinking of leaving pregnant. Those women are now permanent parts of their lives, or odd regrets in some odd way, once they had children they wanted.

If that is not the case, then you need to wonder in a different way. Where you able to sleep fine after this? Well after the freak out moment?

If it was you, and part of you basically banished something out…then it makes good sense. Good in the pleasant thought, that your higher self can come to your rescue that way. However, it then has the second question of what was keeping you up in the first place.

Getting back in practice would be good anyway.

On dgd's original post

Personality is a funny thing. When we are awake it is usually grounded and we have a strong self awareness. This awareness only remains intact as long as the mind maintains consciousness. When we are knocked out, under the influence of drugs (especially like LSD or mescaline), or on the verge of sleep our self awareness sort of "unzips" and the doors of our normal perception are wide open.

In terms of sleep what this means is that as we begin to fall asleep we are really beginning the stages of the sleep cycle and we experience dream/sleep like symptoms along the way. Normally what this is that at a certain time of night (most people are wired to get sleepy around 10 pm) we get tired, yawn and begin to relax. We then go to bed, close our eyes, heart and breathing rates slow down and we gradually fall asleep. We essentially pass out, loose consciousness, from the melatonin that is pumped into our system. Of course in this state of mind we have full blown dreams, if we didn't we'd be classified as in a kind of coma instead.

This is the important part to understand; at the very peek of tiredness, just prior to actual sleep, the brain begins to fire neurons and produce dream like affects. These are called pre-dreams episodes and they are called this because they have the same characteristics as dreams but just without any noticable narrative or story line. When the brain begins to have these pre-dream episodes the person may still have a strong measure of awareness - especially in those who are restless, sleep deprived, on certain drugs or are insomiacs. So a person may experience really anything within their memory - feelings of arousal, a random smell or touch, even taste or a piece of a random memory of an event.

Sometimes these episodes are powerful enough to wake a person back up. Since people rely mostly on vission and hearing these tend to dominate not only what we experience while dreaming but before hand as well. If I remember correctly I think the brain actually stimulates the temporal lobes (what controls our hearing) first and then the occipital (vission) and then loops back through the rest of the brain eventually firing randomly in later stages of sleep.

So what I think you experienced was just a pre-dream episode - a random piece of information stored in your brain that surfaced just before you went to sleep. I think it would be pointless to try and pin point the source of the memory. It could have come from something you saw on TV, something you heard on the radio in a song, something you expereinced. You might have even been the one who said "OUT!" at some point in your past. Your restlessness only increased the likeliness of having such an experience. While I know the event was probably very realistic and I don't question the possibility of something paranormal this is the most logical explaination. Especially on such an isolated event. If you can explain the event rationally don't just jump on the paranormal band wagon without more information or experiencing more than just an isolated situation.

What I would do is I would try to recreate the same situation, with your girl, and see if you don't get another response. Maybe even try to contact any spirit that might be there through the use of a medium like a ouija board or scry. I would go with trying to recreate this senario you had in the first place before you try to contact anything otherworldly because doing that might actually just invite something in rather than link you to any spirit that might have said "out" to you. Just remember the most grounded answers are usually right.

@paxx

Nothing like that happening here. I'm fine and dandy with my girlfriend atm so that rules that out. I can't remember If I was thinking about anything else before hand so it could possibly be that? I was under a lot of stress last week (Higher School Certificate - final exams = lots of stress) but they're finished now. Maybe I wanted "OUT!" of my exams (IMG:style_emoticons/default/13.gif) .

@Acid09

Nice to hear a logic point of view, I was starting to think I was crazy.
I've heard about these before, and have actually experienced them once or twice throughout my life. One time was when I was falling asleep I was lying in bed and felt something grab my foot and snapped awake, jumping to my feet in the process. My mum (being very spiritual and all) believed it to be a spirit, and possibly an evil one because it was grabbing and mainly at the ankle (which she thought was evil because she believed more benevolent spirits would either pat, stroke or something similar. One of the other members of my extended family was actually reading up on psychology and funnily enough stumbled over pre-dream episodes as I experienced this. She attributed this to being one of these pre-dream episodes as I had experienced something similar where I felt something crawling on my face. Thinking it was a spider or something I jumped up and looked for it, but there was nothing in my entire room (took me about an hour of searching before I deemed it safe to sleep again).

So what your saying could be the answer. I slept there the other night actually. Same situation and everything, however I was out drinking with some friends so I was a bit wasted (IMG:style_emoticons/default/13.gif) . I was fine when I went to bed though and nothing happened, so I'm pretty sure that if there was a jealous spirit there, they would be even more annoyed at the fact that I was in a semi drunk state and sleeping with my girlfriend.

Maybe but alcohol dulls the senses, even in moderate quantities. ummm from my expereince "a bit wasted", at least back in my more crazy days meant about a 12 pack of beer, at least. Either way alcohol can actually hasten the sleeping process, meaning you'd fall asleep faster than you would totally sober. Either way I would try to do the same thing recreating the original situation as best as possible.

Just something I wanted to note, is that doing the LBRP more regularly keeps "negative" influences out.

So, unless you have a subconscious desire to be away from your girlfriend, I would go with the most logical conclusion (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
