Hello all:
New to the boards, familiar with the topic for 18 years on one level or another.
Current philosophy: I am currently very tied to AQAL concepts expounded upon by Ken Wilber, however that is a map more then a philosophy.
However the underlining concept is everyone has the truth, just that some truths have more depth then others.
I believe in a Creator, how influential that creator is…no idea but I have an opinion. That opinion happens to change from moment to moment, but I have an opinion.
I believe all the traditions have a lot to teach, figuring what that is takes time and researches, often times requiring complete emersion in them, and then complete separation, going back to them at a later date.
I believe there is a ton of crap out there, as well as half-conceived philosophies and practices that have almost no value except to find their sources and then explore the source. However, the only way to find that is to explore.
Currently I have to admit I don not see any “practice” as evil, or people in general as evil. They can do evil things, but to do it consciously and fully aware, I feel they are lacking a certain level of intelligence. This is not to say they can not be geniuses, just they never outgrew the morals we attribute to a 3 year old, but have the abilities of a genius to do their wishes.
This is similar to having a 300-pound, muscular, temper tantrum-having brute, but with the ability to persuade others, conceal actions, and worse.
I have delved into many traditions, many in solitary “IRAB” ways as well as with mentors and or full groups. I personally prefer groups that have to do with the 5 Major Traditions (Christian, Jewish, Islamic, Hindu, Buddhist) as the minor traditions seem to have more trouble with the practice of egos rubbing up against egos.
Well there is a bit of what I believe and my background.
