i picked other because of the fact i belive in bits of all religions perhaps it is my athiest up bringing yet i know better for there are things out there that go bump in the night, an glorify the day, an the in between, the clossest would be hindu yet not fully, an some of there major tenets i dont believe, an as could be said of the others. perhaps im a comparaitve religion brought together in a belief system.

I put neo-pagan for that, ancient Paganism is quite rare nowadays so it would be "other".

i chose other becasue i'm currently studying demonolatry and thats not on your list of options. i like this post alot because i was always curious about how many people of each religion is on this foum.

As of right now, that's about the most effective way to categorize myself. Of course, I certainly try to glean wisdom from the various other belief structures, primarily those focused on compassion, inner wisdom and mysticism, and self determination through personal empowerment (be it magickal or otherwise.)

I put Satanism because I think that is how I actually am inside more than any other listed.

I said which do you "most closelly" relate to because there are too many beliefs and paths out there but these are basically the beliefs that have "ties" to many occultists and magick practitioners.

So if you're beliefs even resemble any of the above pick that.

I have my own version of Dark Spiritaulity, but having studied many kinds of Satanism, my beliefs are very closely tied to that of a Satanist's. I do not call myself a Satanist, I call myself a Dark Spiritualist, though my beliefs are "closest" to that of Satanists.

Yeah i got what you meant exactly. If i described my belief system, not that its that systematic, to an ordinary everyday christian, they would probably say that i am not a christian and that i have been brainwashed by satanists or people who like your self closely resemble them. Yet in my heartfelt opinion, that is what my "religion" most "closely" resembles (the teachings of the master Jesus Christ - hence me choosing christian) , despite what the self professed christians who blow people up for a living would have us believe. I also find a lot of "dark" spirituality fascinating if not appealling. I find a lot of anton's stuff a bit pedantic and transparent, but there is a lot of valuable insights out there in the world of dark spirituality (though from my own experiences many of the tastiest fruits are in my opinion no way dark in the mainstream chrisian sense, yet beliefs like these and many of mine are often viewed in this light by those who belong to the mainstream christrian machine, whose beliefs are ironically often quite dark). Ahh semantics. One mans evil is another mans night.

I voted agnosticism. The experience of living is so subjective that I can choose almost any belief system I want and make it true for me, so my religious beliefs are very malleable, I pick and choose according to what is convenient, or according to what I want to believe in. I wouldn't consider myself an agnostic, but I chose agnosticism as the closest because in picking and choosing whatever I want to believe in, I acknowledge the fact that there is no absolute truth, or that if there is, then it's not something I have any knowledge of.

If I had to choose anything else on the list, I'd choose neo-paganism, because it's just a lot more fun than most religions! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

In essence it might be true that most Paganism is "Neo".
However, usually Religions that are using scholary research as a way of rebuilding an old system is seen as "Reconstructism".
Most Pagans might be Wiccans or Witches but most Pagan Religions out there are not.

Asatru for instance is not generally regarded as "Neo Paganism". Neither is Khemetic, Hellenistic or Roman Religions to name a few.
There are also Revivalists who are a good middleground, not building as much on historical and archeological evidence but still leaning towards it.

The term Neo Pagan refers to new or modern Religions that are Pagan.

I picked Asatru though Thelemite fits just as well.

Taoism, Buddhism.

I find it to be a good balance to alot of my practices.

I picked Agnosticism because that's what I say I am.

Mostly so I don't have to deal with annoying comments. If I say I'm a spiritualist I get stupid things like "What does that mean?" or "Do you worship Satan?"

Screw that. Agnostics never get bothered with that nonsense because people have learned that listening to agnostics means confusion.

Being a large fan my personal religion is a compilation of Nietzsche and Gaiman- in this context anyway. Complex enough to take up a small book; the bit that would be interesting is the belief in any number of gods who's power and influence is determined by the believers. That is to say, I chose "other."

I picked "Other," being a Simoniconist who is also influenced by the esoteric schools of Daoism.

"Other" because I have a mishmash of beliefs. Christianity was my main root, but I'm introducing Taoism, Buddhism, Neo-Paganism, a splash of Satanism, Thelamism, etc. to make myself a helluva maltov cocktail that I can call a religion, I guess. My line for the most part is "whatever works." If it works, I adopt it; if it doesn't, I toss it. Of course, the views on what actually works is subjective to my beliefs... hehe. I'm a Luciferian-Thelemite, but i chose Setianism because it has a Typhonic/Draconic belief system very similiar to my own. If i had to choose a second one i would have picked other.

Islam...but more the spiritual dimension, what is called 'Tasawuf' or 'Sufism'. I find myself from childhood attracted to this. I think because of my grandfather who was\is always telling stories about great Sufi masters. And also, the way the Sufi looks at creation, humankind, etc...it's universal. There is a famous quote of Hazrat Khwaha Gharib Nawaz RA of Ajmer: 'Love all, hate none!' I think this message is suitable, for certainty, this present time.

Islam is largely misunderstood. There are so many movements claiming to be the right Islam. For example, the Wahabi movement ( to whom Osama Bin Laden belongs). These people are very extreme. Woman are not allowed to drive a car. They are destroying all of Islam holy places and/or places of history. For example, they have destroyed the house of the Prophet Muhammad ( peace be uppon him). They are strong against Sufi's. Wahabi people have created their own religion. To them all people ( muslims too) who do not follow their beliefs are 'infidels' and should be killed. It's so strange...this movement financed by Saudi-Arabia is found everywhere!!! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/00000041.gif)

Atheism isn't ("atheist" + ism). It's (a + "theism"). The same applies to agnosticism really.
