QUOTE("a reply from the occult forums") I think technically if you have the unfortunate luck of being christened, the Catholics say your soul is covered by their God archetype, despite no longer following the religion. So if you're born a Catholic, grow up an atheist in a 'decent, moral' home & become a protestant later on, you're damned. For one you don't take communion, you don't attend church every Sunday & as far as I see it, anything not Catholic will send you straight to hell. Basically you can follow every last primitive or contradictory ideal the church has or you can be damned in their eyes. Though this is only if you have taken Baptism or Communion. Whatever personal beliefs can revolve around Catholicism, the facts don't change of what the belief itself & church stands for in the bigger picture. One person's ideals on a religion don't matter IMO, because it is only an opinion, like mine- so if you're already under the belief that one can dominate your ego or soul, then people probably will to an extent. It is essentially the same concept as a submissive person turning their ego's over to another dominator. It is all in the mind, really.
I believe it is all about perception. For instance no-one can really have your soul unless you can say that another dominated it in the first place. One can become a sheep who unquestioningly follows a religion/ church for their whole life, never using the quality of life they have for independant ventures (thankfully for majority of people, these select people are uncommon). Perhaps this is what your friend meant?
Delano that is basically what i meant (yes it was i who talked to him). I was really talking in riddles to manifesto so i can see this is what came out and why. really its better to read books and make your own theories instead of giving your soul to some god and to some religeon for the rest of your life (nuns..) what i meant by get your soul back is to clear your mind of your previous thoughts to open it up to something more real. if you were raised christian (and you were you told me) then you think that heaven is the SUPREME realm. wich is a lie. so to get your soul back you really have to learn to accept that the religeon you beleived in or were taught about isnt complete fact. that is why so many satanists and pagans and occultists get these DUMB questions. itsbecause they see that heaven is supreme, hell is torture and theres nowhere else to go. Earth is the REAL purgatory and what you do here decides on where you can go in your afterlife. if you beleive in the egyptian faith, you go where egyptians go, likewise if your jewish.. erm.. i dunno where jews go.. sorry.. but you get the point but its all your beleif.. and its hard to explain.. Jews believe they go to heaven. Not half obvious. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) But then again, that's at the end, not straight away... But Satanism is kinda a stupid idea in the classical sense anyway (not the LaVey sense). Then again, it's amusing that you say that you need to free yourself from the religion that you were raised in, and yet absolutely deny Christianity. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/confused012.gif) Sounds like someone's falling into their own trap.

The value of an individual is not numerically assignable. Given the individual's infinite capacity to affect change (for better or for worse), it follows that their value is just as infinite. Logically then, not only are all individuals of equal value, but all possible combinations and groupings of individuals are of equal value, and finally, no matter an individual's past actions, their capacity to affect positive change is not diminished.
The value of the individual is sacrosanct, but actions must be directed in an effort to affect positive change.

Yep, I agree, a spotless soul is a dangerous idea. What happens to the theory that we are transitory souls coming back again and again? What if I was an egyptian slave in one life, but a catholic bishop in the next? So what does that make me now if I was not raised a christian this time? Take (IMG: style_emoticons/default/33.gif)(IMG: style_emoticons/default/33.gif) and call me in the morning! (IMG: style_emoticons/default/diablo.gif)

My first thought when I saw the first post was: Why not sell your soul to every religion, and then see what happens? I like the idea of having a soul. And I have sold my own to every belief I have had an interest in. I would think I have taken back my soul when I lose interest, but I have made contracts in blood as well (Haha, I really like selling my soul). The person making the claim that your soul is bound by the religion you were brought up in (let's say I make that claim), might just experience the cycle of the psyche, where stuff (emotions, thoughts, ideas, beliefs etc.) comes back to be reviewed again (here I would suddenly ponder about christianity and realizing how it effects me here and now, and then realize how it is rooted in my thoughts etc., but the cycle will move on.) Conceptions of what your soul is will change with time. At least it has been radically so with myself. I no longer care about what happens when I die, but know it will be a great thing, and focus on my time here on earth (which is short for everyone). So, for those Realms claiming to have you after you die, just give them the finger and see what they can do about it. The Catholic Church likes it power, so of course their going to say your damned to hell if you don't follow the Catholic ways like good little drone. I was raised in a Catholic family, so I know all about it, but when I switched faiths, it was not hard for myself to shed the Catholic ways. I certainly don't hate the faith now, I respect it like any other (well, Mormonism might be an exception).
Your soul is YOUR soul, not Zeus', or Jesus', or anyone elses. It's yours. But that's just my belief. I don't believe I'm going to hell because I'm a witch, or I practice Buddhism alongside my crunchy granola ways, and not attend church every Sunday for Mass, or go to confession (that actually got me kicked from the church when I was young...I so don't believe in confession. Good times, lol).
But if you think you can sell your soul to a chosen deity or saint, then by all means, do so. I just think it's a waste of time and energy to worry over something fabricated by man.

We are what we are ... being the sum total of all that we have been to this point. We are all unique expressions of our own self ... therefore we should do just that .... express our own inimitibility; our own uniqueness .... not copy that which has gone before. In my view too be completely white is the same extreme as being completely black ... one and the same thing in truth .... We are meant to be a shade of grey ... a perfect harmonising energy of both white and black ... meaning in our lives we should be angel to some and devil to others in equal degrees .... We should follow our own path ... disregard others ... our instinct is our guide .... for it is the voice of the higher self (soul) which is the only entity that knows where we are going ... as it is the consciousness which set the stall before our 'fall from grace' .... Hey! This life is just a dream. As in any dream the sleeper can assume control. Magic is gaining that control and using that awakening to full advantageMarried for life, to my devoted wife, who I have neglected recently but will do no more.......... i think that in baptizing someone, the church(which ever that may be) is in fact doing a binding spell. All the trappings are there including belief. After all, there are alot of people in the church and the weight of all that belief, that my soul is bound to that religion, is alot of power to put behind a spell. You might want to do an unbinding, sort of a reverse baptism, if you will.
Me, myself, personally, i believe that your soul doesn't belong to you, you belong to it and it belongs to the Source. That is, you, in corporel form is just a housing for your soul, without soul your body and mind could not exist. And your soul is just an extention of that life energy that binds all things, the Source, so you are never really apart or seperate from it. When your body dies, you just go back to it with all the life experiences you have gathered. i don't think religion matters except as a different set of life experiences to take home. But no one really knows so cover your butt by doing the unbinding.
