All I can really say acid…is “Good times man!!”
I have no real explanation, but I have questions that may unlock some stuff for you.
What is your connection to electronics?
For example are they cool and fun, tools of communication, a necessary evil in today’s society………so on and so forth, really examine that, for it was part of your twisted setting.
Fast food, same question?
I eat there all the time, I think they should be torn down, guilty pleasure, nessary evil….and so on.
Remember you are looking for your base response, or your subconscious response, hard to do.
Start by making a written list, perhaps fifty possibilities, from the most basic (I eat there when I am in a hurry) to the most outrageous and stupid (I want to be king, and to be king you got to eat at the kings)
Then go to one on your own, sit there for a while. mumble each one on your list and stay with it for about 20 seconds or so, take notes of the ones with the most emotional charge…preferably do this where it does not matter if people think you lost it. Because saying things out loud usually is when you spot what has the charge.
You can probably do this with a friend, but they have to understand what you are doing. Trying to understand the emotional charge you have to something. Typically your voice will change and get more emotional (more passionate or more broken/nervous) but the person should perceive the change.
Try to live in each possibility for about 30 seconds and move to the next one until you finish the list, then they should tell you what they thought had charge, and you go over those again slowly.
So once you nailed down fast food and electronics store significance to 2 or three, move on to the rest in a more private manner. Significance of your friend, try and recall the conversation, why cabbage patch doll as a daughter….alot of this can be disturbing.
For example you might have thoughts that the only reason they had a child was because it was the thing to do it is the fad , fundamentally they put as much thought and preparedness into it as going and buying a Faddish toy or collectors item toy at the store. They do not think of their daughter as an independent entity…so on and so forth. Now those thoughts might be real, or they might be jealousy or anything…but you want to look there.
Lastly, eating little men.
That you had a full texture dream means something, the men might just be a trigger to remember it by, or it might be something significant, or it might just be that you are thinking of illegal immigration, the war in Iraq...
I am going to explain list making in more detail as I think it is an important exercise.
Typically you make a list of 25-50 but stick to a number the more the better. You want simple references preferably 15 words or less in sentence format. e.g. eating the little men represented: 1. The day to day killing of the soul that we do in society. 2. The way I look at people slaving away for minimum wage. 3. The way we that we are killing our youth with fast food. 4. I don’t think of the work involved in making what I put into my body.
Typically the last 10 will require a stretch if thinking, if you come up with your number and no problem, you may have skipped it, or it was much more plain to see.
Also you will often come up with some very messed up things, other then nervous laughter, these are hard to verify that they have significant emotional charge, don’t focus on them until others have been excluded.
This works better with a partner, as they will quickly notice the changes in timber of your voice. Even while you are justifying it to yourself as needing something to drink. Should they suspect anything with one line, they should ask you to repeat it. if they still suspect it, they should note down the number and go on.
After all have been gone through, the partner should have 3~10 they want to go over again, mark them and read them. Then you should start noticing what you have the charge with, be it passionate or the ones you want to avoid, but let the partner narrow it down. Then after focus on what you think had the biggest focus and what they think had the biggest focus.
On occasion with dreams there will be more then one significance.
This exercise is really good at objectifying fears and or anything you have that seems like an obstacle. If dealing with an obstacle, once you focused on what it is. Write about 2 pages on the item and why you have an emotional charge, specifically all your complaints. Then read it aloud, then do it again and again do it until there is nothing that you find to be true on the page…this might take several hours. It is much faster and significant if done with a partner as then you think of the absurdity of it all that much faster.
good luck, I have one dream that I am still unfolding 15 years later.
P.S. ad the edit. Have you been thinking about vegetarianism? Even if just ridiculing the idea? Or thinking how the hell could someone give up meat? From what you described, it reminded me of a vegan trying to get me to get off meat.
You have to understand my relationship with meat to understand how odd that would be, I could do it for a while (six months, perhaps a year) as a fast or something, but I love meat and it would take a serious religious change for me to change.
I have cared for, killed, dressed and prepared every animal I have ever eaten except for bison and many of the fish I have eaten. I totally understand and hold sacred that exchange. I don’t like animals being penned up, but we live in a specialized society, it is going to happen. I buy organic/free range when I buy food to prepare, and it is an option, I look for it, know who carries it.
But the thought came to mind because I took her to sushi about 3 years ago, and she was not amused, but they had plenty of vegan dishes there (reason I took her there). She tried to throw the cannibal aspects of eating meat in my head. I was the first and only person she knew that knew intimately well what animals go through when slaughtered, thought a true vegetarian diet was unhealthy, and yet thought it was totally ok for her to express her views to the fullest, even while I eat, unless she started talking about waste management.
I then told her how in South America two days before x-mas. My buddie came to me while I was near his home, but visiting other friends. He was running a specialized range free/organic bird farm and needed to slaughter and dress 120 birds for local Vips. He had most of the equipment, but his 5 laborers had skipped on him for not giving bonuses.
His range happened to be in a peach orchard/grove whatever it is called. He was killing and depluming, I was inside doing the fine depluming and the rest of the dressing of the birds.
After about 3 hours and 10 birds I walk out, bloody hands and pick a peach and eat it…he vomited at the sight of it asking how I could eat. Now in my story I went into more detail as to what entails dressing a bird, what is washed and put into a plastic bag and so on.
In the end we did it, all birds delivered, and I had a good amount of extra spending cash for the festivities. (but 40+ hours of dealing with birds in 3 days is not my idea of a good time.)
The worst of the smell in my mind is not the insides it is the boiled feathers smell.
Needless to say she never brought up again as I was eating Sushi while telling the story.
But your dream reminded me of the imagery she tried to plant in my head.
