Every now and again I'll dream of a commercial. The last one I had was exactly like the one advertizing the new resident evil movie. And I hate it. It disrupts my dreams. Its like promoters are invading my dreams with their crap.

Also every once in awhile I will have a dream that is either like a movie I've seen or in the format of one. IN other words some of dreams are like an episode of some series my mind just made up. Like last night I drempt I was in some futuristic world trying to save some alien girl cause she couldn't breathe the atmosphere on earth for very long and didn't know it. While the dream it self is unremarkable what stuck out to me was that it seemed like the dream was an episode of some series.

SO what I'm asking is if any of you have every experienced similar phenomenon. I have a theory about this but I want to try and get a few poll responses before I state it. (It might affect how you answer).

Even if you don't respond and share your expereinces I would appritiate it if you took the time to fill out the poll.

Thanks

Great idea for a post! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Thanks to satellites, we're being constantly bombarded by TV, radio, and all sorts of communications; and for TV there's at least two different companies broadcasting the same content simultaneously. If there's one thing the mind is really good at, it's making comparisons. It wouldn't surprise me if the brain was able to unscramble some signals, thanks to vestigial light receptors or just because of working in the electromagnetic spectrum.

Anyways, as far as dreams go, I've had characters appear (not their actors) and TV show format dreams (both in terms of serial scenes and dreams that seemed developed by people with no time or creativity). But never all at once.
A few I wish I had the skill to turn some into a movie script. Like one where police (accompanied by hovering UAVs) are after a rare-book thief, in the future when education has been replaced by entertainment. The thief uses his learned wits to convince the police he's some sort of specialist sent from HQ, then sends them on a wild-goose chase... etc. etc.

Maybe someone on a higher plane of existence is tired of the nigh endless run of cliche shows and movies in recent years?

Well my theory is that tv, mass media in general, is affecting people's subconciousnesses. Dreams repeat information taken in. So you see or experience something you dream about it in some fashion. Its no wonder that some may dream about tv or movie related content. I think the more time one spends watching tv or movies, the more likely they are to have these kinds of dreams. What this implies to me is that as we become more and more digital we will begin to affect our dreaming process such that dreaming of commercials or media content is common place. This further implies that this knowledge could be used to manipulate people mind control.

Suppose a politician wants people to vote a certain way or a major designer clothes producer wants to introduce a new fad. They could create commercials designed to influence dreams. Dreams can and often do produce an emotional reaction. Even if the person doesn't remember the dream consciously - the reaction is still in the brain and can affect higher functioning. The brain produces "waves" (handing writing analysis can tell things about you because your writing mimics your brain waves). A brain wave in laymens is a measurement of brain activity that can be monitored like your heart beat on a monitor. Like radio or micro waves a brain wave produces a frequency. It is theoretically possible to produce a similar frequency using radio or micro waves to influence brain waves - mind control. Those who would most likely be the most vulnerable would be children. With young developing minds the use of mind control through tv frequency could produce a subtle affect on the mind such that children become more complacaint or more eager to participate in our society's social rat race.

Of course I still do believe the content of the tv or computer has a much greater impact than the actual digital/radio signal. Advertisers already use psychology to attempt to influence colors, everything from content to color schemes to the power of suggestion are regularly used and to some affect at that. For example a color scheme of yellow and green tends to be mellowing and can aid in suggesting hunger. Red and yellow can get your attention - ever wonder why Micky D's logo is that color scheme? No joke. But in our more digital age we can create flowing colors and dazzling special affects. Sounds are also a major part of our dreams as they add to the affect of the sensations we experience. Sounds at different frequencies can produce a more pleasant affect or a negative one. We really haven't yet discovered the full impact this can have on people let alone the potential to influece peoples thoughts, dreams or behaviors. Realize dreams are our thoughts. So when we dream of things off tv in a way our mind IS being subverted.

So combine the three - sights, sounds, radio waves. All three could be used to potentially influence our dreams. Influence our dreams influence our thoughts. Perhaps not "control" them like a driver might a car - but possibly like a conductor does an orchestra.

Some food for thought.

So maybe instead of watching tv and playing video games 16 hours a day, turn off the boob tube, ley down the controler and spend some time with the family or friends. Engage in a nice hobby. Read a book. Cause our later generations may forget to value such commedities.

I would take it a different way. TV is formatting the way you think of passive entertainment. So when your mind wants to experience a passive emotion, that is how it sets you up. In times past it might have been a play or a story teller.

What I mean by passive, is we are not the central figure of the dream, and if we are, we are just seeing things through their eyes, we have little control over the central figure.

It is kind of sad when your mind does not fell you are important enough to put you in the staring role, but I view this as a way of gaining wisdom on something or learning through the experience of others.

Anyway that is my take on it.
