Good evening.

I thought I should share some musings and questions which have been floating through my mind after the day's events. I ask for opinions and reason, from those bored or interested enough to share. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) This may fit better in another forum.
Also keep in mind, terms like "spirits" and "entities" are to be taken in a very loose and encompassing manner. These are open-ended questions, even if they may not seem it.
Be as brief or in-depth as you'd like. Yes, I'm nosing into personal lives. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

A) First off to bat, concerning the growth of spirits/non-corporeal entities. Aside from the artificial flavor (servitors/egregores/etc), does one believe entities grow through interaction with us, as we develop through contact with them--in whatever fashion we go about it? Why?

B) Does one agree or disagree with statements and requests along the lines of "make all spirits subject unto me!" when it comes to invocation (or otherwise)? Why?

C) Related to B--does one prefer a strictly "business" relationship with the spirits they work with? Or a harmonization--a friendship based on whatever ideals or attunements? Why?

Have at it, friends. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

I think spirits are a part of gaia. Our gaia as it is on earth and how its relative to all other living entities in the universe is where spirits dwell. Traveling from one spirit world to another is like jumping from planet to planet. Yet each gaia has its own layers the mundane being the center of it all- the level of physical manifestation. Following this I think spirits are entities that grow and learn from experience. It does not matter if they get involved with humans or not. It matters that the spirit has the will to grow.

I disagree, unless your a god, because spirits are beings like humans with their own will. You can summon them to your presence provivded they are willing. The exception is if you think spirits are without will and the summon brings them forth to give them will. I think any created thought form or entity that has no intelligence or no self, egregores and the like, are beings that have no will but are given it to them by the summoner. But one must be careful because to give a will to another is to give them the ability to go against it. The catch is the summoner doesn't give complete will to an entity, just the will to complete a task.

However in the case of god forms, dragons, demons and so on they already have a will of their own. And so the magician must be extra careful to not control or abuse these entities because they are capable of abusing him back.

I prefer to not bother intelligble entities with my petty problems. Only in a situation where a servitor couldn't/wouldn't work would I attempt to ask for help from other spirits. This of course means that there are no mundane options or the request is help to find a mundane solution. Not a magick pill to cure my problems. In my experience if a servitor can't complete something a greater being wouldn't do it for you but lead you to a way you can do it yourself. Maybe even provide you with some resources. But ultimately I think entites don't do things just because you tell them to. Only in dire, hopeless situations do miracles occur. Wanting psychic powers, love, attraction or this and that is not asking for a miracle its refusing to find those powers in yourself.

The reason I treat spirits like this is because I do believe that growth is an individual thing. One can attempt to use entities as a magic cure all but in so doing risk missing an important lesson that could develope their own ability to manifest change by will. One can invoke beings to help them experience or find the aspects that they desire but not use the beings as slaves. One should alwyas be able to ask for help but not servitude.

I am pretty much in agreement with Acid09 here.

The entities I have had contact with are without any doubt in my mind powerful and they do not need me for anything, rather, I need them at times. Therefore they do not need contact with humans to grow. Whether they are all like this is another thing and I am not sure.

The only reason to subdue an entity to your own will is so that you can ask it to leave when you are finished communicating, otherwise, as in the case of my dragon, prolonged contact is by mutual consent. I fail to see a reason to take one prisoner as it were.

I am for the "stricly business" with an entity I am unsure of, but some will offer a more friendly relationship and certainly I have one entity that seems to thoroughly enjoy being around me and available to me at will.

Although with these questions, I am aware that things could be different depending on what type of beings we are discussing here.

Sincerely, thank you for your replies. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
I'll answer my questions myself, as it'd seem fair is fair, soon enough.

I suppose I should have clarified of the first, though...
I did not mean it as, "do spirits only grow through human contact?", so much as using that as an example. Rather, it is: "Do spirits grow at all?"

After all, I find it very difficult to believe that the 72 entities of the Goetia, or the archangels of the Lesser Banishing Ritual of the Pentagram--or any of the grand plethora of gods and goddesses from every religious sect that has ever held existance--have not changed in all these many years.
