I wanted to put this in one of the entity forums but there didn't really seem to be any appropriate headings. I'm trying to find information on shadowmen, or shadow people. I've heard a plethora of different information from different sources and I'm not exactly sure what fits together and what doesn't. Some say that they feed off of fear, some say any kind of negative energy, and some say any energy at all, good or bad. No one seems to have a very clear idea where they came from; there are beliefs that they are kind of crossover spirits from another plane that show up as shadows, there are beliefs that they are somewhat egregorical and have been constructed from leftover fear and dark energy, and some sources say they were human in origin who's spirits have been altered into freaky life-sucky things. There also don't seem to be any references on how to banish them or protect from them apart from typical long ceremonial banishings, which you can't really do if you're walking down the street. Anyways, any information there might be floating around on shadowmen would be much appreciated. Thanks:)

WHat makes you think these occurances are a singluar phenomina? Perhpas these are different situations with a unique quality and set of circumstances. If you have experienced this maybe you could relate that, then you might find a more suitable answer.

To risk sounding like a nerd... I keep all sorts of goodies on my person at all times. So if by chance I need to banish something or kick someone's ass I can, I keep things that will protect me from magickal and physical threats. Its not like I'm looking for trouble or anything. In fact I really wouldn't need such things, but what if some one else needed it, I can take care of myself just fine I suck at taking care or others lol.
To quote that blonde chick from alien vs predator "Its like a condom, I'd rather have one and not need it instead of needing one and not having one" something like that.

The reason there are so many conflicting ideas about these shadow people is because there is no science to make anything we think about them to be factual. IN other words what I believe is no more less valid than what you might believe. I will say that I do believe that something like shadow people do exist. I believe that because I've drempt about shadow people. Sometimes with red glowing eyes. Twice in my life I have also encountered what I would deem a "shadow person". Perhaps some sort of ghost or entity living on an alternate plain. While I have never been harmed in any encounter they always seemed to inspire a sense of fear by their presance. But weather or not these entities are evil or I just have that reaction to them because I don't understand them I do not know.

I speculate about the existance of such entities because we judge everything we know based on our senses and the science we can apply yet we just don't know what reality lies beyond that. It frustrates me too that most people seem willing to believe that there is nothing beyond what we can normally sense or put under a microscope. I think we, as the almighty human species, really only percieve a small part of the true greater whole of reality. And it makes sense that we would too. We only need so much for survival and evolution has given us what we need. The same is true for all other creatures. For example animals that live in the deepest parts of the oceans have evolved to produce their own light and live in extreme conditions. I'd bet if we evolved in similar conditions we'd percieve only that part of existance and nothing beyond it.

Greetings :

I have seen the information defining shadow people. I have also seen them (and no it wasn't a pigment of my imagination or a Bipolar moment). We feel fear since they are dark colored and it is a surprise to see them. Our primal survival nature takes hold and the fight or flight responce kicks in. Unless you are a seasoned paranormal investagator ... they are going to really surprise you. Much like one of your friends popping out and saying BOO when you least expect it. They are not every day-to-day occurrances.

If you have been summoning Dark forces in the past then you have to take notice and discern if you have provoked any anger or wrath from Dieties or Spirits. Think back and see if you were just experimenting with power you we not ready to handle in a reverent manner.

You can program your mind to remember your dreams and also add what question you want answered. Your Spirit Guide or your Higher Self will oblige and give you answers or at least direct you to where you will find your answers. When retiring for bed just say aloud three times (one for mind, one for body, and one for spirit) "I will remember my dreams" Then you'd program " My dream will give me answers about Shadow People" ( saying that aloud three times).

Happy Exploring.

Love & Light,

Well I have ran into more than a few of these things and even collected a some witness statements from other people who have seen them, and I still know very little about them for sure.

This is a list I compiled for my LiveJournal Shadow People group a while ago, one that I have unfortunately had very little time to update since.

Anyway, hope this helps.

1. They are made of swirling inky shadow that is visible on even the darkest background.
2. They are humanoid in shape, almost appearing as the classic 'hooded monk' of modern ghostlore
3. They seem to produce some kind of 'fear aura' of varying degrees of potency, making it very difficult to approach them.
4. Though their lower limbs are not always visible, they seem to move like we do, needing to walk or run upon a solid surface to achieve locomotion within our material plane.
5. They never make a sound, or speak, though occasionally their movement can be heard, especially through dense undergrowth.
6. When noticed they disappear, usually by turning sideways and seemingly stepping into a gateway that the observer is unable to see.
7. Though they are active at any time, they are at their most mobile at dusk.
8. They prefer to observe than interact, unless they are fulfilling the role of a child's imaginary friend, something I have read about in certain cases online, and that my ex girlfriend had personal experience of.

Perhaps they are the spirits of the cynical, the critical, and the negative, all in search of inspiration of childhood innocence. Perhaps this is why some children view them as friends rather than as things to be feared. That makes sense to me. After all, if I was like that, I would view a child's innocence as a gateway back to some better form or another.

Now that is the first time I have ever come across that point of view, and it does put an interesting spin on their presence here.

Very intriguing.

Hi all

I have just read about the dark eyes and swirling figure and my heart has just raced

A while ago a friend was doing a tarot and Medium night at our local pub and there i was there as well as alot of other "gifted" people so the energy was very high. Well i had gone to the toilet which is a tiny room and as i sat dow there was something in the corner of the room that scared the living s%£*t out of me and trust me with all the things i have experienced i really dont scare easily.

It was a shape that the edges seemed really fuzzy, like you couldn't get a clear shape and the only thing that you could see was these red eyes and he seemed to reach out for me and into my body towards my heart. i dont now if this is making much sense but i tend to waffle at time.

Any ideas if this was a shaddowman, it felt more like a beast but hey

Since it is Halloween coming and this has been bugging me, I am going to give my takes and observations.

Also for added info Coast to Coast AM has done many shows on the phenomena, but I have not listened to them, and it is just more stories and ideas nothing conclusive…but they are probably the biggest archive of things that go bump in the night. Bad part is their past shows podcasts are subscription based, so it will cost you to listen, but the info there is at least 20+ hours probably 40+ or more and as such worth more then most books on the subject. Not to mention they have great shows on everything that goes bump. As well as other fun topics. Not a subscriber, but I used to listen to the show every night, and if I am up and driving I still do today. However there are plenty of shows I thought where silly or stupid even, usually it is spot on.

Anyway, shadow people…scientifically it is said to be the brain over reacting to visual stimuli filling in a probable pattern. All in all totally plausible, but I don’t buy it anymore.

My experiences are out of the norm, and I have yet to have a shared encounter (more then just me seeing the same thing).

What I have seen. All in common, made of shadow, or as if they where, nothing distinctive (no red eyes).
Things that can be described.
Body type
Overall body shape
Size
Posture
Movement
Some observations, but nothing conclusive enough.

People usually 1 but as many as 10 plus.

Most often of late I do not usually see the whole body, I see an arm reaching for a door from just behind me (it is attached to a shoulder and torso, but by that time I turn around and it is gone.

I have seen cats, dogs, and insects with the same characteristics.

Never get a feeling other then observation from the encounter, and “Oh crap it saw me”. This is across the board with all encounter types.

Often 2/3rd of the time I see them moving, of that 2/3 rd of the time that I am not at home it is prophetic. I see one walking across the street from me at 4 am, within 5 minutes someone of the same build, posture, general speed and direction (but not always same type of cloths, or type of walk) will walk by.

This is more common with insects and cats, dogs about the same as humans. If I see a shadow cat, I will see it’s real life counterpart shortly, but not always doing exactly the same thing (cats are the most apt to stop and streatch before continuing on there way as if to spite me for watching them)

You can observe them for up to 30 seconds perhaps a minute if you do not turn your eyes to face them or adjust your head to not face them.

Types of cloths.
Monk hooded
Sweat suit hooded
Duster and hat
Duster no hat
Priest robes no hooded
Sweat suit no hooded
All Shapes and sizes appropriate to the counterparts in out realm of existence.

Now the hard part is figuring out what you do see out of the corner of your eye. At this point facial details, hair line, neck width are all blurry for me for regular people anyway. So I can’t conclude that all are hooded since in many cases the hood seems very tight.

They seem to need to touch something before they can move through it, and they seem to need to move through movable objects. For example, they can move through cars, doors or windows that open and don’t have a screen, or they disappear immediately. I have not seen them go through trees or walls, but I have seen the cats jump, just not onto anything they disappeared after that.

When it was humans only I went from alternate dimension, that almost aligns with ours, to time travelers with some stealth/pass through solid matter capabilities.

When Cats and bugs got into the mix, their prophetic nature, took those out, then I started seeing the same things occasionally with the humans\oids.

Thoughts currently are spirits of the sleeping, or those not focused on their current place but projecting into the future, and only the edge of our vision sees it, because the brain is picking up the pattern of something that thinks it is there. However when it is confirmed by our main vision to not be there, or we change focus it is gone. Since most people dream at night, I see them most often there, especially at work places like offices. Sad that people dream about work but it happens to all of us.

That is all I have.

Perhaps they're not shadow people at all. Sounds to me like the race of dreams that is ruled by Hypnos, the greek god of sleep. His sons Phobetor, Icelus, Phantasos, and Morpheus all appear as shadow-like human shapes that can change form and visit people in their dreams. These princes are most likely very similar to those they rule over (albeit stronger, due to their divine blood). It makes sense that the race of dreams would visit our world near dusk, when the plane of human life intersects theirs. The "observation" they seem to conduct is probably just them curiously poking their heads out of their world and into ours. If you had the power to visit the world of dreams, wouldn't you want to? They're probably bound to a clause stating that they must not interfere with life in our plane. Doing so would send them back to their world or something. Olympian magic works that way, via promises and and decrees.

Just my two cents.
