Sigil - opening third eye, a Sigil to help in opening the third eye Options

This one has worked well for me, speeding my progress greatly.
Just stare into the center of it, view a connection between the center and your third eye, the center is your third eye. view the sigil laid around your third eye.
Do not force it, just let it happen. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wizard.gif)

The list of the sigils will remain on the Chaos Magick forum. The sigils themselves will go to whichever forum is best for the discussion of the purpose of the sigil. In this case a Chakra sigil is best discussed in BM&S.

Just wanted to build an inverted version of it, for those (like myself - dear God that hurt) who are stupid enough to overuse it. I made a temporary one, but it's only a stop over for a more accurate one.

Greetings! It is of some interest to note here that your current use of 'sigils' is very much like those used in Reiki...ie power symbols that now have attached vortices. The danger (and the usefulness) of said symbols is that they can be used by the maker as batteries to draw power from. The larger the popular use is the more power can be poured into the vortice. Such symbols can have an astral key or control which is known to the maker and/or the users so that they may 'tap' the vortex for energy when needed. There are other uses for the inventive mind. Group magic of witch covens and magic lodges use such devices. These can be classified (if one wants...) as astral machines. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/7.gif)

interesting, this is the first time i heard of that.

I just play with shapes in photoshop and use my intuition to create a Sigil for a certain intent.
I try to feel what the purpose of the sigil visually would look like. So certain shapes appear in my mind, then i try to draw these shapes and see how they feel. I add effects and colors until the feel is just right.

I can't exactly define how my Sigil work, because i go almost into a trance like state when i make them. I spend about 1 to 1,5 hours on a Sigil while thinking of nothing else but its intent, trying to feel it.

I am not familiar with these things, so does firefox or anyone else care to explain a bit more in detail how it works? I.e. how does one raise their energy by staring at a sigil like this?

Sigil is a symbol designed for a specific magical purpose. The plural is sigla. Occultists may prefer to employ the anglicized plural "sigils". The term sigil derives from the Latin sigilum meaning "seal." The old norse binding rune is an example of the idea. However, sigla differ from runes as they are designed not to represent an alphabet but are created to form a glyph, composed of a variety of symbols or concepts with the intent and inherent iconic meaning.

A sigil may have an abstract, pictorial or semi-abstract form. It may appear in any medium, physical or virtual, or only in the mind. Visual symbols are the most popular form, but the use of audial and tactile symbols in magic is not unknown.

In a post-modern context the businesses may use corporate logos such as the Coca-Cola logo as their sigils and invest them with a comparable degree of prestige or power. The idea that these symbols are consciously used as magical tools is a popular idea among occultists and a common element in conspiracy theories.

A sigil is simply a sign or image that has magickal properties. The purpose of a sigil is to direct your subconscious mind to accomplish the desires or needs of your conscious mind. Your subconscious mind likes symbolism created by the conscious mind to motivate it to accomplish your desires.

Use them to focus your intents, if that intent is to raise energy, then create a sigil that reflects that for you, and then focus on it, or use it in a ritual do whatever it takes to bring about the desired effect.

The mind focuses on the purpose of the sigil with symbols meanings in the unconsious.

So basically you mean that there's a collective subconsious (or consious? (i should learn to spell that word (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) )) and that there's a huge list of symbols that mean different things or something specific.

For example. There's a cross and it represents *alot*.

And by focusing on that i can do different things with my mind.

So in short, the symbol/sigil helps me focus and clear the path to what i may want to do?

If i want to raise my energy i focus on a sigil/symbol that seems like an energy source likeish one for me and that sets the path so that i dont stray for it and also helps me focus?

In other short terms, theyre just there to help me on the way, they dont actually do anything, my mind does?

Greetings! After studying Spare I had always used 'sigils' in a very personal way. The sigil was created to represent an idea/task to accomplish, then 'energized' by whatever method you decided to use and then, purposefully forgotten.... The forgetting part was to allow the unconscious mind to work on the desired result, the premis being that the conscious mind would get in the way.... I'm sure that there is a better way of putting this... What seems to be happening is that others are trying to use sigils that are developed by yet other people in the hopes of materializing an effect. This will give you an imperfect result. Spare created his own 'alphabet of desire', intending to use it for himself. Instead of creating our own 'alphabets' some here are trying to employ someone elses sigils. In my opinion I find this abit off the mark. As magicians we owe ourselves the experience of getting to know ourselves. We may be able to get results from the use of others sigils but they will never equal the results we could achieve by making our own. Granted, there are many different ritual, spell or formulae that have common enough symbologies to be used by anybody but even these are not foolproof. Being somewhat old fashioned I encourage you all to follow the basics...to a point. But we are all individuals and as such, our methods will vary considerably. I think that this is one of the great truths of Chaos theory but I may be wrong......*sigh* Enough prattle for now. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/5.gif)

As a common practice many magickal practitioners feel that you should create your own sigils. A sigil created by anyone other than you will not have the same powers or be as effective for you as a sigil you make yourself.
Drawing sigils isn't as simple as grabbing a piece of paper and and making a design. A sigil should be drawn when you are in a meditative state or are focusing on your intended goal.

That is my understanding of magick, all these things are just tools, your mind is the
important part. Each basic symbol can be defined even further by you and by your personal likes, dislikes, and personal beliefs.
