Sorry to spellbeg here, but I was wondering if someone could give me some insight. I've heard about spells that can be cast on a personal grimoire or book of shadows to protect it from other people seeing it or touching it... some purely cloaking-types, and others I've heard about are said to actually cause pain if an unwanted person touches it (I assume this could be applied to any object). Has anyone heard about anything like this, or had any experiences with it? Any thoughts would be great. Cheers.

Greetings!
I only get pissy about spellbegging when you have less than 30 posts...
I've only heard bits and pieces of tales concerning the use of magic to protect grimoires, etc. LOL! Quite often it is alluded to but noone gets around to mapping it out. Never letting this stand in my way, I've turned to my own inventiveness and what might be considered chaos magic to fulfill my needs in this area. Also, the ancient Egyptians used fire elementals to guard tombs, etc. Theurgic magic then may hold some clues as to the mechanisms used. Understandably one would require a power source to maintain the working (this is where the theurgic elements come into play). But I'd imagine that it would be arranged similarily like any spell would be. Need, description of the act required, description of the act completed, fill in the cracks with preliminary divinations, invocations, alignment of the power flow, creation of the trigger, pulling of the trigger, viola! (please note: I've scrambled the components, etc. This was to give you ideas to think upon in order for you to compile/invent your working. Theurgic patterns are very different.) Good Luck! PM me if you need a helpful prod in any direction...I guarantee you that I can bollux up anything! LOL!

mostly modern bs

the ancients actually used personal codes and memory association tricks for ingredients (as in pigeon's blood, bat's wings, frog toes, etc)

and they would put cat piss on the outside of the book (it sticks to the hands and clothes of any that handle the book without your knowledge, giving them away)
