First off i would like to say hi to everyone, i'm new to this forum, and the whole subject of magick, So i have a question. Has anyone heard of people haveing dreams that happen?
I ask this because i have has several dreams that have come true... at least i think they have.
all of the dreams have been about normal everyday things. but they are just different from other dreams i have. usually i dont have dreams about real life, and they aren't nearlly as detailed as these ones are.
one of them was me sitting in a math class any one of my classmates was standing up laughing on the other side of the room, then i looked out the window, and as i was turning my head back i woke up. i thought that dream was odd and i forgot it during the next day.
about a month later i was sitting in that class and the same classmate was standing up laughing the same way i saw him in the dream, then i looked out the window and when i turned my head back i suddenly rememberd that dream i had.

anyway thats an example of one of the dreams i have had. do you think im reading too much into this and it was just an odd coincidence? or is it something else?

That sounds like déjà vu.
QUOTE(Wikipedia)
The "previous" experience is most frequently attributed to a forgotten dream, although in some cases there is a firm sense that the experience "genuinely happened" in the past.

I've had it a lot, but after a while you get better at distinguishing between "this happened in a dream" and déjà vu. One thing I use is predictive ability: can you actually say, before it happens, what's going to happen next, or does it just constantly seem familiar?

Not to say it couldn't have been a genuinely prophetic dream, just a thought. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

well 'prophetic' is a strong word...prediction is probably more appropriate. yeah, i have them once in a blue moon. usually i'm ok with the little predictions coming true...i make no attempt to change them cuz that would mean unlucky repercussions...in fact, i make an attempt to create their reality as long as they are not negative. however, you should know...small predictions have an easier time coming true (because it takes less time and energy for the ducks to line up)...on the other hand they are also easier to prevent (I don't recommend this).

but thats all i have figured out about it. good luck in figuring out your dreams, whats true and false, and welcome to the forums. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) val

Yeah I used to get these a lot... they feel like good confirmation one's on the right track.
I don't see them as different to "deja vu", I see them as the reason for deja vu..
We explore all probabilities in the dream state, it's just that we remember them
sometimes, we seem to make a point to remember the most probable ones.
It comes down to memory though, there's no way we could remember all the
possibilities of our future existence and translate that onto a physical level..
So instead a few here and there. But there's no reason it couldn't be directed if
too if one had the inclination and did some training.

The thing to understand about dreams is that they often replicate the things we do on a day to day basis. Some are complex like taking a test in a math class or more simple like walking to the lunch room or brushing your teeth. And thoughout the night you can have many, dozens even hundreds of dreams. The vast majority of these dreams happen when you are not in the REM phase of the sleep cycle and so for the most part you do not remember them. Also most of these dreams are short. Sometimes lasting only a few seconds.

The other thing to consider is that palette that is the dream state of mind is sort of like an intersection where both conscious and subconscious awareness intersect. Most people do not pay attention to their dreams so the subconcsious part, driven by base emotions and instincts, tends to dominate and runamuck and produce all sorts of bizzare dreams. But the conscious and rational part is still there. For example gravity. In most dreams people experience gravity as they do in real life. Most people tend to have an idea of what is up and down. And things within dreams usually behave in a way that is at least somewhat consistant with how they run in real life.

But the truly key thing to bare in mind is that that rational part of your dreams is also capable of inductive and deductive reasoning. Although the overall logic may be flawed, its still there. And just as you can guess what is going to happen to you tomarrow while you are awake and lucid, your dreams can do the same thing you are sleep and unaware. So yes, you can have dreams that predict the weather. Like predicting the weather (without the use of technology) its also a hit and miss kind of thing. Some dreams will be dead on and others won't even be close. The details in one dream might be kind of off while the overall dream is accurate.

But, at least as far as I am aware, there is no scientific basis to predicting worldly events like WW3 or who will win the world series. Yet, the day to day things you personally experience within your own sphere of existance can be predicted and even repeated to some extend through your dreams.
