Which do most perfer?

Understand the reasoning behind using the unicursal hex in place of the standard hex but I have to admit that I have taken a liking to the standard version, works fine for me although there have been times where it feels as though the symbol is incomplete due to the lines used, as though the charge stays in one place rather than charging the whole of the hex. Using the unicrusal just does appeal, especially considering the adage association regarding the sixpointed star.

Am also confused about the elemental banishing ritual and the planetary version, have been told to use the unicursal to banish saturn but was previously using the elemental symbols to banish the planet... am not sure how the unicursal can replace the elemental hexagrams as well as the traditional hex.

Anyway... which do you perfer to use?

Peace

Aplogies, had confused the Lesser banishing ritual with the planetary one.

The Unicursal is an intresting symbol, it crosses the central paths of the tree making it, ''more'' QBL'stic than the standard hex, through this it also draws association to the L.V.X formula, the analysis of the key word, links it in well in ritual as one can relate to the symbols whilst going through the analysis but and I quote;

QUOTE
''The hexagram is composed of the two angles of fire and water and it therefore not traced in one continous line like the pentagram but by each triangle seperately''

The italics is an ephasis deriven from the text and is not an added personal touch. .lol. There is also the issue of the unicursal not being drawn in a clockwise fasion for invoking and anti clockwise for banishing, at least not as consistently as the standard hex.

This conserns Mchawi who would much rather stick to the star of david over the unicursal in ritual. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/face08.gif)

For planetary rituals, I, generally and almost solely use the traditional Hexagram, BUT, the only exception is when I'm working with the Sun.
I find it extremely convenient when working with the Sun to use the Unicursal Hexagram starting from the middle.

Although I've seen people using it for the Sun and start tracing if from the upper apex, but with the vibrations of the Sun Hexagram and by using the Sun glyph.

Have been using the unicursal for a while now and still prefer the standard hexagrams.

Granted they don't flow as well but the imagery has a power the unicursal lacks in my opinion.

Thanks for bringing this up.
I preffer unicursal,because
1.it is an intermediate between the pentagram and the hexagram(which forms the word of the aeon Abrahadabra).
2.it can be drawn without removing the pen from the paper.
3.It is more potent.

Hmmmmm.... agree that it flows better but then you have the question of its full replacement of the Hexagram, on Talismans, Pantacles and so on. I mean, if its used in ritual then the elemental weapon of eath should feature it also, shouldn't it? It also lacks the ''full'' elemental association, the interlocking triangles representing Fire and Water and furthering that the Air and Earth if its seen that way along with the psycological depth the Hexagram has over it due to its age...

would like to know more about it being an intermediate between the pentagram and hexagram, sounds intresting.

Peace

Well if you trace a pentagram and only change two angles you get a unicursal hexagram plus the hexagram represents the triangles of fire and water, the pentagram is Earth,Air,Fire,Water,Spirit. if you cut the middle part of the pentagram the horizontal line, make ts center downward ,you get a hexagram, what I like in the unicursa is its flow,it seems to be flowing perfectly,if you count the vertex or top points in the hexagram you will find six plus the middle point which completes the holy number 7,plus its center(intersection) , represent the stabing done in the end of tracing the pentagram In LBRP ,i will post here some beautiful variations done with the unicursal hexagram yet i believe that we must distinguish the two and make it clear the understanding of their elemental aspects. But as usual, nothing is definite, the ultimate is not established ever,as i used to say,the best song isnt written yet,
The best woman is not created yet.

Its a question of time, symbols and things are discovered every day, discovery is constant and moving ,progressing by time,The secret is eternal, and it reveals itself to humans in intervals, small ones. it will never run out,the secret is eternal, infinite and not easily grasped, some people live their life devoted to a very small portion of the secret and die without grasping it.devotion is the key maybe sacrifice too.
