 Yoga Concentration

There was written in a yoga book that I should concertrate on one thing in my life and push everything else away, but I have many things in my life I want to succeed in.

Well, one need not focus purely on one thing to succeed in them, although it will indeed come much sooner and more surely if one does. It's up to you really, what do you want to succeed in? By focusing on one thing, you focus all your energy there as well, if you focus on more, your energy is spread out.

I think the book suggest you to first set priorities and concentrate on achieving your most important thing on that list.

List what is important in your life, and move them around in order of importance. What and which is the most important to you? Plan well!

When you've done your homework and PRECISELY KNOW WHAT YOU WANT, and what is most important for you to achieve first. Forget for the moment everything else in that list and start thinking hard on how to achive your No.1 goal on that list.

Like Kiwi Kid say, you cannot do everything at once. You focus your PLANNED efforts like a laser to penetrate walls of obstacles coming your way if you want to achieve that goal. You must be single minded and yet, flexible in your approach to achieve it.

I'm not suggesting you to keep working hard no matter what results you get. Work smarter, look for alternative ways to achieve your goals.

Have you see a fly trying to go outside your glass window, and in the end it end up dead? The fly is like many people out there. They work hard, but they always get the same result, never achieving what they really desire. The fly kept banging it's head on the same place over and over and never look hard enough for another way around. We see this around us everyday.

Therefore, notice what's working or not and continue to change your approach until you achieve what you want, using whatever life gives you along the way. Be creative, open minded and persistance. Hell no (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) I watched those salesmen keep trying the same sales techniques over and over again like a robot without even trying to offer a sound solution to my needs. I do not need their products or services but I *may* be interested to buy it - if only they take the time to find out how I can benefit from what they offer that will make my life easier. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/king.gif) Also, there's 4 type of "personality" (visual, kinetic, auditory, and "feeling" - forgot the correct term), and if they're good, they can pick this up and turn it against me and should know how to best present their offers. Like say, if I am a visual person, then I will use a "trance" word "see" a lot example: "aha - I see!" and the salesmen should approach me from this perspective, making me to visualize the benefit of their products, as if I've already own it.

Arrgh, anyway - I hope you get my point I'm trying to share.
The same concept works in many areas on the subject of achieving goals. In Sun Tzu Art of War, he said something like this: Know the terrain, and position your resources/troops accordingly, or something like that. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused012.gif)

Why can't I eat 2 hours before doing yoga? I don't have moments like this much and when I have I need to do other things.

I didn't want to make a new topic for a small question like this.

I imagine this is the same reason why one should not eat before meditating, the body digesting food is a distraction and prevents the required state of relaxation being attained.

You shouldn't eat 2 hours before doing yoga for the reson mediocracy stated. Along with that the asanas are a physical exercise, most people try not to eat before doing exercise to prevent cramps etc. Also if you are going to do pranayama, which I'd definately recommend, it is quite hard to pump your diagphram when you have food in your stomach.
