Hail all, and well met! this is my first post on this forum, though i look foreward to reading and commenting on the many excellent threads you have here at sacred magick forums! While ive been studying magick for close to 6 years now, from wicca to ceremonial magic and whatever else i could get my hands on, i have cautiously avoided spell writing, and only recently have i decided to compose some of my own; yet even still i keep it simple. As a writer i am always in need of inspiration, so here is a short spell i recently came up with for just that, and i was hopeing that perhaps someone with more experience in spellworking would give it a quick reveiw and maybe give me some feedback regarding ways i may improve it. Thanks you!

Objective: This is a candle burning spell for inspiration, especially in the areas of writing and communications
Tools:
Orange candle
Athame
Matches or lighter
candle holder
A Sigil for inspiration drawn on the spere of mercury- These may be found here:

alter which may saftly accomodate a burning taper for a few houres.

I selected an orange candle to represent Mercury, the god of communication. Take the Orange Candle up in your right hand or power hand, and actively project the energy which is raised during the chant into it, allowing it to resognate with the symbol. then after a breiw moment of meditation to calm the mind, begin to chant this mantra-like rhyme, channeling the power and focus into the candle you hold.

Orange candle of mercury's sphere,
fill me with inspirations dear.

This should be repeated 8 times, to further connect it to the symbol of Mercury.

once this has been completed, take the candle in your left hand, and your athame or ceremonial dagger in your right, and ingrave the word "inspiration" into it, projecting the essence of the word into the taper, and enforcing it with the energy of your cleanched fists and intent.

Next, you should inscribe a sigil for inspiration upon a peice of virgin parchmen, take this, and place it upon the alter beneath the candle holder. fix the taper firmly into the candle holder, relizing that as you light the candle upon your alter, you focus the light of conciousness on inspirations within the tenmple of you being. Light the candle and say as you do this:

I light this candle that it may bring me inspired words, that i may create works of great beuty. may the gods bless it!

Now leave the candle, and allow it to burn out completely. as the flame melts the charges wax, it releases the essence of your spell into your environment.

Once the spell is complete, one may also meditate upon the flame, and sense the light of inspirintion filling them, or place a black mirrion in front of the candle, and scry into it for inspiring visions.
