I just got a cough and i found it difficult to continue my daily rituals (Middle pillar, Lbrp, meditation, tarrot contemplation)

i decided to quit for a while

but the thing is, when im sick, im sick for a while.

Whats a good way to relax even when you break into coughing?

also, is there any practice that could lower my time with this cough?

IMO The best thing to do is just pick up a good book to read or watch tv.
Sometimes you just have to let your body "heal" itself.

You can also try drinking some herbal teas (at least herbs in part are related to the occult). (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Try and keep healthy in general, theres no reason why you should fall ill if your energy flow is working well... if its a problem then its one you need to resolve as the blockages will not aid your practice. Perhaps you have a bad diet or suffer from stress?

That being said, falling ill sucks, have always thought about it like what if you're bedridden for like a month can you imagine all that work up until then pushing your development back while you're ill? Would have to be one of the worst things that can happen, almost torture, stuck in some elemental grade and not being able to complete it... one reason why working with a group can be so benificial, would have to have someone at least do the LBRP around my bed while I'm down... haven't missed a few days in years but its a terrible feeling when it happens.

Take up yoga or Qi Kung on the side if you can, really helps keep things flowing... perhaps book into an acupuncture session?

Get well soon dude.

It depends on what kind of cough it is. There's more than one type--trust me, I'm asthmatic, I've experienced pretty much all of them.

If you're coughing to the point it's painful, and/or it hurts to breathe, see a doc.
If you're coughing up coloured crap, see a doc--this usually means you've got a bronchial infection, you don't want pneumonia.
If you're having trouble inhaling or speaking, or you lose your voice, go see a doc.
If it's just one of those dry-throat annoying hacking coughs, suck on hard candy or a cough drop and see if it goes away. If this lasts for more than a few days, go see a doc.

So...bottom line is if it persists go seek medical attention.

As for relaxing, Jenfucius's suggestions are really good. Chicken soup helps, as do mellow videogames (think Chessmaster and Civilisation, not Tekken) and a decent DVD collection. I've also found the 'fuzzy' state that comes from being sick can be conducive to meditation, if you can find a way to turn the mental static off. Sleep is always good. And if you're sick for a few days or a week, it's not going to push you back into the Stone Age, so don't worry too much.

Get better soon!
